Namaste/Pranam, If I had an option would love to give you 10 out 5. Experienced amazing hospitality and authentic traditional flavours when we dined one Friday night. I have eaten subcontinent food all around Melbourne in last 17 years and I rate you No. 1 amongst all! Will surely return soon. धन्यवाद!
Great atmosphere. Staff very attentive. They had live Music that added to the atmosphere. Food was good would like to explore the Menu more. Nepal Beer is a novelty but would not be my go to.
I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately never made it past the entrees. The food was ridiculously slow. Our entrees took half an hour to arrive and instead of the wait staff coming and saying "hey, we're really sorry, we're short staffed/we're very busy/someone has gone home sick, your food will take another 10minutes" they just left us sitting there waiting. We didn't bother ordering mains because we didn't know how long they would take. It's obviously a popular place so I may dine here again one day, I just really hope the staff communication gets a bit better. Also not overly impressed with the Momos. The filling felt very 'frozen veg from coles', like it wasn't made on site but rather just bought in. Definitely needed better seasoning.
Momos were good and staff also agreed to give soup Momo with soup and the Momo separate as per our request. We requested to have 5 pieces of steam, fried and soup Momo each, as it was in the entrée section that 5 pieces are available. However while ordering, staff said for fried and soup they only does 10 pieces each. It was bit weird given 5 pieces fried and soup Momo pictures are available in Gmaps. Having had Nepalese thali all over Melbourne and in Nepal itself, vegetarian thali at Gurkhas was disappointing. Was expecting achar, or at least ghee with the rice. Chicken curry was delicious though. Lemon drink and mango lassi - 2.5/5 Vibe was enjoyable with the in-house singer who started at 7pm. Staff in general were very good.
Great food, great service. Food reminded me of home. I would give 3 for ambience though- guys please turn the heat on when it’s cold outside. And sorry to say the bathroom was super dirty. If u maintain a standard you’ll get a 5 star from everyone .
Have to try the Nepalese tea and Momo! Really yummy, and the pioneer chilli is such a surprise, will come back

Great restaurant in the heart of Brunswick. Lots of interesting menu items - however I went with the Chicken Thali and a side of Pakora’s, which were delicious. Washed it down with a Nepal Ice Beer. My mate loves Nepalese on a Tuesday, and said this was his best yet - can definitely recommend!Recommended dishesGarlic Roti, Chicken Thali
The hospitality and friendliness of the people here have been exemplary over the years, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. With so many tempting offers in the large menu, my friends opted for the Veg Thali while I chose the Meat Thali with chicken. I like that they asked us about the preferred spice level so that everyone's taste buds were catered for. The Veg Thalis arrived quickly, looking appetising. There was a mix up and I got the main chicken curry instead of the Meat Thali. They were quick to correct the issue when asked and promptly brought out the vegetarian side dishes. Our dishes were so good all the tastebuds were singing and zinging with happiness. This won't be my last visit as the food and service here has been consistently good. The decor is warm and comforting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for catch ups.
Always friendly & prompt service. Food is consistently delicious. The banquets are generous! The goat curry is amazing & you must try the momos! A high recommendation from me. Been coming here for years, bringing new people each time & they are always as impressed as I am. Vegetarian options: Plenty to choose from Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available
