0 Stars if I could. I have been going for 33 years, they still can't spell my name correctly. I can never get an appointment when I need one. Multiple family members of mine have been misdiagnosed with serious consequences. But mostly recently I have issues with prescriptions for my young child. When I rang for the 6th time about a prescription, I was told rather rudely that my child's dad was given a physical copy he was not to then be told oh no they sent that out to a chemist that morning to the wrong chemist for the 2nd time. This was after being spoken down to on the day of the appointment and being blamed for being put in the wrong waiting room. Always long wait times for a short appointment, Drs are always running late. Reception staff are rude and blunt. I would change Doctors if I could but with everywhere being fully booked there is no alternative.
One star purely because they had a tidy up and couldnt find the drugs needed to treat my condition and the person who todied uo was not present. Lucky the ambulance arrived promptly and had the gear. I overheard one of the staff members mention the place was a circus. The staff were fantastic in this instance though, not her fault she couldnt find the drugs where they were supposed to be.
Have been going to this doctor maybe 18 months now. Have had multiple instances where my appointment hasn’t been booked and they haven’t been able to get me in on the same day. Last week I called to arrange an appt after being discharged by hospital for an ECG. Told them what I needed and an appt was booked in for 9AM the following day with my DR - when I got there I waited an additional 10-15 mins to be seen. I then went into the dr room and said I’m here for my ECG she said “I can’t do that you’ll need to see a nurse”, the next appointment wasn’t for an hour, she checked my ears and then I left. I sat in my car for the hour as there was no point driving back into town to work. I went to my appt and then went to the counter to pay. She said “that’ll be $85”, she was adamant she would be charging me for a doctors appointment as well as a nurses appointment. I explained multiple times that the only reason I saw a doctor was because they booked me in with one on error. She argued till she was red in the face, spoke to her manager multiple times and then gave me a discount for my “doctors appt”, I was ill at the time and didn’t have it in me to explain any longer so I was charged $55 instead of $25 for something I never should of had to pay for, alongside the 1.5-2 hours I had to take off work for a simple appt. Very disappointing but with doctors rooms full and not taking new patients it makes it hard to change.
Some of the reception staff are quite unfriendly, and often get their facts wrong, such as immigration status and vaccination status - important things! My doctor is also quite dismissive and rude, I often get the impression they are telling me off, and overly focused on process rather than care. My doctor is always late to appointments, even early in the day. Finally and in fairness this may be an SDHB rule rather than GIMC, I don't agree with some of the charges, such as $45 for a 15 minute appointment, just so that my GP can have me sitting next to her whilst she reads through my blood test results. Do that on your own time please. I did not need to be there, and it seems like money-grabbing to me.
Without a shadow of a doubt the worst bunch of professionals I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favour and do not use this place. I have never seen the same doctor more than once and everytime they say that you can have a repeat script via phone they get you in so they can charge you again. Have had enough of the ineptitude and am moving.
Highly unprofessional staff and doctors. My daughter had a severe abdominal pain in the appendix area - staff ignored it completely asking if we could wait about an hour regardless earlier booking, doctor reassured it's not appendix, subscribed some paracetamol and sent back home. In 12 hours appendix has bursted, 1am ambulance ride, 9am emergency operation with full stomach clean up and long recovery. Easily diagnosticable and promptly operatable condition for current times. Made surgeon wonder why doctor didn't recommend to visit hospital if not sure. Clear example of C gives a degree of employment for Green Island GP medical centre. Would advise to look for GP somewhere else, when health is important to you!
I called a week in advance to book an appointment knowing I had only a small window of time available to be away from work. Arrived on time, but my appointment had not been booked by reception. Nothing available for the rest of the day - won’t be able to make an appointment for another two weeks. Beyond disappointing. Once drove out for an appointment only to be told the Doctors were all on strike in town and nothing was available. No attempt to pass on that information had been made, so wasted an hour of my time driving to learn it.
Have to agree with review above after my treatment this morning. The Drs are lovely but reception seems to have changed lately. Extremely uncaring, disinterested, 'you are a hassle' type attitude conveyed. Charged me full price when it should have been ACC related. I will be looking elsewhere.
Iv been going to this here for 30 years. And the past 3 years iv become to dread this place. I can never get an appointment. They care more about money than me actually seeing a doctor. They seem to have so much power over my prescriptions considering they didnt have the expertise to diagnose my condition. as iv been going to a specialist for 30 years. They are difficult
If there was a zero star rating I would have put it. The admin staff are extremely rude and judgmental. They have very poor time management and try to blame patients when things are not done. I have never experienced such disgusting behaviour in a health practice. I have been made to feel very down from the attitude of the staff. A formal complaint is being made to the sdhb, I have also seen this unprofessional behaviour towards other patients and urge anyone else who has had issues here to do the same. Please do not sign up here. You will regret it.
