Dr Taatske Rijken has been the most helpful and empathetic Dr I have ever been to. She is able to understand the overall picture of your health much better than others. She takes the time to thoroughly explain treatment options. Informative without being pushy or pressuring.
After being a patient here since I was 8 years old I have finally changed practices. The nurses and receptionists were always lovely to me however I've had nothing but issues with the doctors in particular with Elaine Harvey. Trying to get an appointment with any gp is worse than pulling teeth but trying to see Elaine you had to book atleast 3 weeks in advance! Had to wait over an hour for your appointment and even with the first appointment of the day she would be over half an hour late. Longest wait time I had was 2 hours. Asked for years to see if I have endometriosis to be told "I'm too young" or "you'd know if you had it". Told me my tonsils looked great during an appointment and when I reminded her I had them removed at 16 she told me "I was wondering why I couldn't find them". Lovely lady but terrible doctor!
The nurse administered too many doses to my under 5 daughter. She failed to apologize or show any responsibility even though I clearly told her the situation. The receptions were also very rude. The childrens vaccination coordinator called me multiple times to get my under five daughter to come and get her MMR vaccine. The nurses then went ahead and vaccinated my daughter with multiple other vaccines, without giving a clear explanation and without checking out my daughter's previous vaccine history.
worst health centre I have ever been to, messed up my prescription almost every month even though it was the same each time, would take 2-3 phone calls and conversations with multiple people to fix the mistakes they made and receive my correct prescription, rude receptionist, would constantly have to follow up with them, and my doctor was constantly away and the other doctors refused to give me my medications even though they are on my records and I have been receiving them for years. Don't go here it's a headache
Never any appointments, too many different doctors you get passed around like a hacky sack and you spend all your time, money and energy explaining things over and over again due to miscommunication and mistakes on their behalf.
Yikes these doctors are the most judgemental, narrow minded health professionals I’ve ever dealt with. Maybe fine for very procedural health matters, but not a safe space if you have complex issues that need a holistic approach.
My health centre of choice for the past 17 years ever since I arrived in New Zealand. Friendly receptionists, great doctors and outstanding nurses. They go out of their way to give you the best patient service. Wouldn't go anywhere else!
I'm surprised at how negative a lot of these reviews are. I've been a patient at MHC for the past 18 years, and I've had a very positive experience on the whole. I've never had to wait ages for an appointment, I've had very good care from all the doctors and nurses I've seen, and the front desk staff have not been rude to me ever. Maybe it's because I try to be friendly to them, too? It is a very busy place, to be fair, and I do think they are harried at times. Best doctors in my experience have been: Helen Holden, Jonathan Woolrych, Taatske Rijken, Eric Bradfield and the lovely John Byron very thorough and conscientious.
Am unsure why there were several negative reviews of MHC, receptionists were very respectful and pleasant to talk to. Overall awesome experience, especially with my doctor who took great care of me
My appointment was apparently not properly booked on their internal system, which resulted in the doctor seeing me quite some time after scheduled which is something I’m used to from my country of origin and not the reason for my disappointment at the MHC. However, once with the doctor, she seemed rushed and it almost felt like I was pushed out the door. Also, the service at reception was inconsistent. While one lady was friendly and helpful, two others I dealt with were neither friendly nor helpful, for instance not able to clarify when and how I would get the results from my examination. Despite attempts to get some clarity, I left feeling unsupported and unsure of what would follow regarding a physical ailment I had very little knowledge of.
