Have had mixed experiences with Grasshopper over the years. The food is great, the cooks and chefs know what they're doing, no problem there. Unfortunately, when it comes to service, it can be lacking.  There have been a few occasions where the order is wrong, they don't show any interest in fixing it, it's just an "oh well" situation.  Our latest experience was making a phone order after deciding what to get from the menu posted on their Facebook page 10 months ago. Made 3 separate orders, confirmed what was in the first fish and chip special pack to make sure it was still correct for the price. Made second order. Paused briefly before making the third order allowing time for her to make any notes, rather then a simple "yep"/"next"/"and the third order?", was told to hurry up, I am making her wait. If we had no idea what we were ordering and were taking our time on the phone, this may have been understandable, albeit a bit rude. But we knew what we were ordering beforehand, only paused for her consideration and was told as the customer to hurry up. Probably busy I assume, but still no excuse. Disappointing compared to the service we've received from other local fast food places.

Great choice for Fish & Chips deals if you're visiting Taupo. $28 deal fed a hungry family of 4 while busy swimming. Friendly service - great taste reminds me of fish n chips from childhood in the 90s. Big portions of fish, delicious fritters and hot dogs. Ordered over the phone and food was promptly ready for pick up. Will definitely order here again next time I'm in Taupo.

Lovely fresh food, fish and chips always cooked to perfection.  Just one gripe, stop putting the old overcooked chips in with the orders.  It’s happened the last few times and they are inedible. Thanks

Fantastic smorgasbord options which appeared to be regularly refilled. Fantastic fried rice, sweet and sour pork and chop suey.  Slightly pricier than I'm used to.

These guys never fail to serve the best fish and chips/ potatoes and pineapple fritters. My go to everytime I come home from Adelaide.  THANKS

Amazing authentic Chinese dishes, the brown garlic beef is phenomenal and the generous amounts of fresh vegetables in every dish really make a delicious well rounded meal. And I travel from tokoroa especially for grasshopper

After years of loyalty watching  then tip out 1/2 the bag of pork because she thort it was 2 much was very sad nice food other than that. maybe next time

Had a Chinese Buffet container. Food was great. Reasonable price. Good selection

Always fresh & generous portions. You know it's good because they're always busy!
