Do not order from here. We ordered kumara chips and chicken burger. Said five minutes on the phone. It took twenty five. When we got back home half the chips WEREN'T COOKED! When we split them they actually made a cracking noise. Then the "chicken" burger turned out to be a fish burger. Called to get s refund but was offered half on the kumara chips but nothing on the burger. Owner actually argued and said it wasn't fish and it was our style. Then he hung up on a twelve year old he had placed the order for the first time Three people in our house agreed the burger was fish. And the lettuce in the burger was soggy and off. Disgusting. Hopefully the health department visit this place again soon.....

We have eaten here for 8+ years. Over the past several months the quality of sweet and sour pork has declined to being balls of batter with little to no Pork at all. We have tried the pork 4 additional times now, hoping that it was a one off issue as it used to be amazing with large bits of pork. Since telling the owner that we had received balls of batter with little to no pork. On the 2nd time this happened I rang the owner and he told me that it was not his shop it must be a mistake.....now the 4th time this has happened tonight I have rung him again to say that it was just balls of batter and I was disappointed given how it used to be. His response was go to another takeaway if we don't like it. This is his style and it has always been this way. I understand that covid/inflation is hitting hard but you don't sell balls of batter as sweet and sour pork when you used to have generous amounts of pork.
Sadly we were very disappointed, the Hoki was very fishy. And the snapper and hoki fillets were so thin, it was like they cut them in half to save cost. Spring rolls are battered and not like normal ones.
Very happy with the Black Bean Steak. I have eaten from here many times and have never been disappointed. Chips Fish, Chinese it's all better than good. 5 stars. Give them a try. You won't regret it.
Sometimes you just find that "genuine" food-place - like Grand takeaways. It might not look like much, and the English need some polishing - but this was THE best sweet-and-saur chicken with rice and fried rice with chicken we had ever eaten - and one of us have worked in China. Go here for really nice Chinese food... parhaps to bring home to enjoy even though the chicken might loose some crispyness then.
My husband got hung up on the phone 6 times trying to place an order. My kumara chios didn't taste right they tasted old and didn't look right. Other than that the hot potatoe chips were nice
Had a great feed from here a couple of times now, great Kai. Terrible parking during busy times, Orewa parking is epic horrid. Grab your Kai & take a wander to the beach to munch on, all good! Thanks see you again next time in the area.
This has to be the worst food we have eaten. Satay chicken was dreadful. Chips were OK though
Terrible service. Ordered fried chicken and got home and it wasn’t cooked in the middle, took it back to get a refund or some new chicken and they didn’t understand what we were asking and put the under cooked chicken back into the deep fryer! Walked off with no new chicken or our money back. Do not recommend
