Governor's Cafe has been a Dunedin institution since 1977. Come in and visit us and enjoy what we believe to be one of the best coffees in Dunedin

We cook everything on our menu to order and we make all of our scones, muffins, slices, desserts, and take-away food in house. It might take a little bit longer, but we think it’s worth it. We proudly serve local free-range eggs.

We are happy to accommodate many dietary restrictions and have gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes available.

We enjoyed a fantastic meal here. The theme is very modern, and it was very nice to visit a Cafe that plays music. The staff are helpful and friendly - creating a warm atmosphere. There is a recurring napkin drawing competition and they're displayed on the wall - making some very cool art work. 
I highly recommend the Nacho style potato wedges with cheese, bacon, sour cream and sweet chili - Amazing! Keep up the good work Governor's Cafe - we will definitely be back!

Always reliable. Very busy today, I suppose with people who had been to the rugby last night. Plus students back in town. I had to wait about 20-25 minutes, but I was warned before I sat down and I enjoyed observing the crowds in town
 And ... the wait was worth it! I had the Big Salad. It was just what I wanted! Lots of flavours and textures. Reasonably priced ($13).

Very interesting cafe.  Great hot chocolate.  Good menu and interesting customers' artworks. Pleasant staff.
