Hidden Gem of Palmerston North, Food was exceptional for a fair price. Meat was tender and had the spark of care and love. We had a 1 year old with us and the staff were amazing in providing toys and high chair! I will be visiting again! 9/10!!!
Not usually one to rant but… this was honestly the longest wait time I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant with zero communication the entire time. Even when we were eventually the last table there.nnNo comms or updates on wait time or if something couldn’t be made or was delayed, at least tell us? We had people around the table who were fluent in Chinese mandarin order was placed in mandarin, so a language barrier is definitely not a reason.nnThe egg tarts were the first thing to arrive - 45 minutes later and they came out cold, hollow and looked and tasted stale.nnOne of the staff drops an egg tart on the table while placing it down. No apology, no offer to replace it… just stared at it and back at us in silence for a good 30 seconds. Like are you serious??nnAnother 30 minutes passed before we chased up our dim sum as we decided it’d be best to just cancel the remaining 5 dishes we were waiting on, only to be told “it’s being made now”. So what exactly was happening in the kitchen this whole time?? Because those egg tarts definitely weren’t freshly baked or even reheated. We ended up only being able to just cancel one other rice noodle roll that still!! hadn’t been started yet, which is strange as they had already served up the shrimp rice noodle roll so why couldn’t they make it together??nnFood overall? nnRice noodles: thick, barely any filling in it. The Lamb rack: seasoned well but dry and overcooked. The only redeeming dish was the glass noodles. Everything else was sub-par.nnAnd after all that?nnNo apology, no gesture of goodwill, no “we’ll take something off the bill.” We wouldn’t have accepted it but it would’ve shown some level of care after that experience.nnHonestly… so many things went wrong here. Service and food both missed the mark. Definitely not worth the wait. Would never come back unless they change for the better.
Been there a few times. The food was good as usual; especially the sweet & sour pork. Just the right wok hei of the other dishes. Service & atmosphere also good.nWhat more can I say? Highly recommended.
After a long absence, decided to have dinner with family there. Actually, it was a quick light lunch I had with 3 colleagues the previous month that I decided to come back for a full meal.nnThe food was not only good but the portions were huge compared with other Chinese restaurants. We had lemon fish, sweet & sour pork, combination fried rice, combination vegetables & deep fried mushrooms. Added some Yum Char dishes as they were available; not just during lunch time.nnSo good that I took 2 of my colleagues there for Yum Char the next day; which they thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure why they were not very busy like other Chinese restaurants that have Yum Char.nnAnother pus for this restaurant is that there is no surcharge for paywave & I was able to use my credit card to earn airpoints. They also didn't charge for takeaway containers for our leftovers; again unlike the other restaurants.nnWill certainly be back again soon.
Authentic Chinese food with generous portions! The dishes tasted just like back home, very flavorful and well-prepared. Portions are huge, two of us couldn’t finish and had to pack the leftovers, which was great for later. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real Chinese flavors and value for money.
