We enjoyed the service and atmosphere the most.nThe carbonara pizza was fun but the Balmain was a weird overall taste because the olive and anchovies, although taste great on their own, were overpoweringly salty when i get a bite with them together. Perhaps if the olive was less salty or was diced and not given whole it might have been better?nSo I thought the pizzas was somewhere between 3-4 stars but with the high price tag, I gave them 3 stars.nnThe service and ambience were lovely and with this in mind, we are happy to return and try other pizzas next time.
THE Gem of Balmain – A Must-Visit!nnI’m absolutely blown away by my experience at Gigi’s Restaurant and Pizzeria in Balmain! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, friendly vibe that set the tone for an incredible evening.nnLet’s talk about the pizza – it looks like a classic Neapolitan pizza, but the crispiness that hit me the moment my teeth sank in was totally unexpected and absolutely delicious. The balance between a soft, chewy center and a perfectly crispy crust was something I’ve never quite experienced before. The fresh ingredients really shine through with every bite, making it clear that only the best quality is used.nnService was flawless – the staff was attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home without being overbearing. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, making it ideal for everything from a casual night out to a celebratory meal.nnIf you’re in Balmain, Gigi’s is an absolute must-visit. Perfect food, service, and atmosphere – this place has it all!
The food here definitely lives up to the hype, though it’s important to manage expectations. The dough is exceptional, as advertised, but the pizza toppings are somewhat minimal. The pastas are flavorful and quite delicious. The atmosphere, however, can be a bit overwhelming due to a strong scent of chili and onion in the air, which may irritate your eyes. That said, the food itself is fantastic and absolutely worth the visit. The staff were decent, not exceptional, but still contributed to an enjoyable experience.
This was my first time visiting GiGi’s after following Daniel for years on IG, so I was super critical for a great dining experience.nnAfter dropping the cam off at the front, I drove to look for a car park as it looked a little limited. I snagged one within 50m of the front door!nnWe were seated by the window adjacent to the pizza oven, so that was a great spot to watch all the action. We ordered the following:n- garlic bread $12n- Paisley boombox Shiraz $15n- arancini $22n- “Daniel” pizza $33n- “Gamberi” pizza $32n- tiramisu $18nJust note you cannot order half and half pizzas.nnAfter approx 10 mins the food started arriving and the arancini was killer. Great balance with the truffle mayo and super crispy. 90/100nnGarlic bread was a cracker being crispy on the edges and soft innards. Both pizzas were very different flavour profiles, but equally amazing. Super thin base with puffy and crispy cornice. The toppings were plentiful and had bags of flavour. I could bang on all day about how good the “Daniel” kimchi pizza was - definitely a highlight. The only thing that was a very slight degradation was the softer centre. 95/100nnThe service was great, with everything coming out quickly, but most of all was Daniel spending the time to have a quick chat. He was a bloody legend.nnOverall the best pizza I have tried in my life and there isn’t anything quite like it!n92.5/100
It’s all about the pizza and the exceptional dough that Daniel has perfected over the years not to mention the staff who were super hospitable. This is as good as pizza gets, not just in Australia but anywhere in the world, can’t wait to be back and try some the rest of the menu! Amazing experience!
