GiGi’s Pizza Balmain Great service, but pizzas didn’t live up to the hypennWe went to GiGi’s Pizza in Balmain after seeing a lot of hype and great reviews, especially about the crust.nnService & vibe:nService was honestly great the staff were friendly, attentive and we didn’t wait long for a table or for the food. No issues there at all.nnPizza:nThis is where it was disappointing.nn• The pizzas came straight out of the kitchen but the topping area was really sloppy.nn• There was more crust than toppings, and the bit where the toppings sit was so soft that the toppings kept sliding off as soon as you picked up a slice.nn• The crust itself was stiff, but the centre didn’t have enough structure to hold everything together, so it didn’t feel like a proper, well-balanced pizza. For the hype around the crust, it just didn’t hit the mark for us.nnKids Mickey pizza:nWe ordered the Mickey Mouse pizza for our child, but it was basically a regular pizza with ear shapes. For the price, it didn’t feel special or fun enough.nnCalamari & value:nThe calamari was quite salty, which was a letdown.nIn total, we spent around $174 for three pizzas Plus the kids’ pizza, two calamari and a salad and to be honest, the pizzas didn’t feel worth that price.nnTo be fair, the staff and service were great, so maybe the pasta is better and worth trying next time, but based on this visit, the pizza didn’t live up to the hype for us.
We had to try Gigi’s.. such a strong social media presence and was drawn to their Pizza. The pizza was as amazing, great flavour & texture. I wasn’t impressed with their pasta dishes. Sauce was acidic, pasta was overcooked & just didn’t taste right. We left it uneaten. With the service, we ordered starters, then pizzas to share and Pasta’s but everything came out at once which was a shame, which meant some of our food was eaten cold. We were there on a weeknight and felt like we were being rushed. They tried to clear our table while we were still eating, and when we did finish our meal at around 9 pm, we were not even offered a desert menu, even though the waiter said they closed at 9:30- 10?! . We were not the only ones in there so I don’t know why we were being rushed out. Would I go back? Maybe for the pizza but you’d have to twist my arm. There’s plenty of good pizza in Sydney with amazing service to match.
We had Balmain Pizza which its dough texture and taste was great but not sure about the toppings as the bread dough itself overpowers the rest.nBurrata with chilli oil, the oil was aromatic and delicious. Rucola salad was huge in portion with lovely shredded cheese on top.nFermented pizza bread was delicious and huge for 2 people.nTheir staff were all exceptionally attentive and friendly.
From the moment we walked in, everything about this place exceeded expectations.nThe service was genuinely warm and attentive, and the pizza was without a doubt the best I’ve ever had!!nnThe atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a great meal.nA special shoutout to Rafi, our waiter — his service truly stood out.nHe explained the menu in a thoughtful and detailed way, offered spot-on recommendations, and made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the entire experience.nnThis is a place I will 100% come back to, and when I do, I’ll definitely be asking for Rafi again!nHighly recommended!
Had a wonderful night @ GIGIS. The pizza and pasta were excellent and the prawns were a stand out, full of flavour. The service was just as impressive; friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish.nSpecial thanks to Nico, who went above and beyond to make the experience even better. His professionalism and character truly stood out. highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and even better service!
