My daughter specifically requested dining here for her birthday. Pricing calculator is available on their website so you don't get any nasty surprises and prices are scaled for children by age. I suggest you book ahead of time, especially for large groups. The restaurant can be a little loud. Meals are all you can eat and water is provided, but other drinks are extra. If you have not eaten at this style of buffet before, you queue to fill a bowl at the buffet, with meat and vegetables and your choice of flavoured oils, sauces and condiments, and these are griddle cooked while you wait and handed to you on a plate for you to return to your table. This allows you to select only the delicious things you want to eat in a stirfry style, and you can keep going back to try different flavours. Service staff were efficient at removing used plates and always asked politely before doing so. There are a range of sides and nibbles great for fussy kids who only want nibbles and nuggets, and some soups with optional rolls and butter. I found the chicken & mushroom soup really tasty. The dessert bar has limited options, which are mostly ice cream with various toppings, but there is always the option of pancakes. If you have 3 adults dining at full cost, it's $1 on birthdays. Check their website for full pricing and conditions. Vegetarian options: Though there is a wide variety of vegetable options, strict vegetarians would not be able to guarantee no cross contamination from the buffet and grill. Kid-friendliness: Children might be a little overwhelmed by the food selection process, and need assistance to get their food. There are a lot of little nibbly bits like nuggets, chicken nibbles, potato pompoms, fries, wedges etc. Many families dine here. Parking: You're on Broadway in town, so good luck my friend. Park ahead of time if you can. Dietary restrictions: As this is a shared grill, and the food is buffet style, there is no way to guarantee that you will not get cross contamination of foods, especially soy, sesame, meat, seafood etc. The only dessert options are likely to be dairy.
Was good value and my friend who dined with me Thursday night loved the food and value for money. Unfortunately I woke up Friday morning with chronic dysentery and vomiting. This lasted well into Sunday morning. The only thing I had which she didn’t was the mushroom soup. And I hadn’t eaten anywhere else other than Gengy’s.

We enjoyed our dinner tonight and we’ll definitely come back. Food - lots of choices, good food, fresh Staff - friendly, everyone were smiling, very good customer service Place - it’s clean, including the toilet, sanitisers are around Vegetarian options: It’s buffet style so you can choose your own. Kid-friendliness: My kids enjoyed their dinner especially when they asked the cook to cook pancake for them and put their own toppings. They also enjoyed to choose their ice cream and put the decorations on. Very entertaining for them and enjoyed it. Wheelchair accessibility: The door is wide enough for the wheelchair Dietary restrictions: It’s buffet style so you can choose your own.
Always a wonderful dine in experience with this lot ...the owner is truly lovely..the meals are quick and this lot always manages to fit us in with a big whanau..they definitely cater to our needs..so thank you gengys Kid-friendliness: Family oriented
Wonderful food and awesome that you choose your own food and get it cooked in front of you.
Second time as a family going to Gengy’s, and collectively we agreed our food was better cooked the first time we went. Seemed like they weren’t keeping on top of their meats, and oils because there was hardly any left by the time we went to eat and it was on 6.30pm. However it does shock me that for a family restaurant I had to change my 10 month old on the toilet floor as there was no change table.
Amazing I looked quite ok at first and when I walked in I was amazed the drinks orders were quite slow but rhe buffet was awesome so many options they cook it fast the dessert bar doesn't have many options but that's ok it's only dessert the meals awesome it was interesting watching the cooks AMAZING place I was very happy with this I'm definitely coming here again
