The theatre presents an annual professional theatre program of high-quality Australian touring productions for adults and children.
Gardens Theatre also presents student productions—which are open to the public—from the acting and dance programs in QUT's Creative Industries Faculty. Among the many successful performers whose careers began on the Gardens Theatre stage are Logie and AFI award winner Gyton Grantley (House Husbands); Indigenous Australian actor, writer and director Wayne Blair (dir. The Sapphires, Redferrn Now, wr. The 7 Stages of Grieving); Hollywood heartthrob Brenton Thwaites (Maleficent, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales); and Indigenous Australian actor Deborah Mailman (Offspring, Secret Life of Us), who's won multiple Logies and AFI/AACTA Awards, and a Helpmann.
Gardens Theatre is a 394-seat proscenium arch auditorium, and forms part of QUT's Gardens Point Precinct encompassing the university's cultural and public spaces which also include: Old Government House, QUT Art Museum and the William Robinson Gallery, and The Cube.
