My family and I stayed were lucky to stay at FIGS cottage by the general store. We absolutely loved it. The cottage was cosy, neat and tidy with everything you need, including some classic board games. Tanya and her family are lovely and easy-going people. My girls loved playing on the swings at the store, patting Hunter the cat and watching the comings and goings from the store. The locals of French Island are lovely people too and not adverse to a chat. French Island isn't a place you go for luxury - go to Daylesford if you want that kind of holiday. Go to French Island if you want to experience something different

Hmmm? Sorry to say but this place is an absolute hole! Especially if you have never been before and do not know what to expect! I went there over two years ago now & have never forgotten it! I will never go back there ever again! Even if it was the last place on earth! Its been over two years & I still have not forgotten this unfortunate experience! If anyone is thinking of going . . . DON'T!

Stop for chocolate top ice-cream and local produce. Also a limited souvenir range. An oasis on this Island.

As a group of 5 cyclists, I stayed at the French Island cottage for two nights. The cottage has been rejuvenated and has all amenities required for a comfortable stay. The new owners were amazingly friendly and helpful. It was very convenient being able to go next door to the store for great coffee and food plus buy a few grocery items. The store provided us with an evening meal that we could heat up after the store closed. It was a great base from where to explore this undeveloped and naturally wild island. The store even transported our luggage back to the ferry wharf. Thank you Tanya, Leith and family!!
