The Forest Products Commission is responsible for the sustainable management and development of Western Australia’s forest products industry, using plantation, sandalwood and native forest products on land owned or leased by the State.
All operations are undertaken in accordance with the Forest Management Plan 2014-2023, which is prepared by the Conservation and Parks Commission and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. This plan protects all old-growth forest and balances the complex values of our forests, including biodiversity and healthy ecosystems, soil and water resources, and social, cultural and economic benefits.
The Forest Products Commission is committed to assisting the forestry industry to support the employment of more than 6000 Western Australians working in timber-related industries. These industries include forest management, harvesting, primary processing and manufacturing sectors.
