Footscray Market is a fantastic, bustling place to get your weekly shopping done. They have an incredible variety of fresh produce, meat, and seafood at very reasonable prices. It's lively, authentic, and full of great local energy.nRight by the market, Golden Horse is an excellent spot for authentic Asian dishes and BBQ. The roast meats are always flavorful and perfectly cooked. Quick service, generous portions, and consistently great flavors
I love this market, it reminds me of Singapore. I can shop fresh produce, for all types of cuisine, and the quality is exceptional. The price… wow. Steak, short rib, duck, pork, huge range of seafood and all half price or more per kg compared to supermarket. Everything you see in my pic cost $120. there’s a little food court so don’t eat before you go. parking in the market is $2. What’s not to love!
Visited the Footscray fish market and honestly wasn’t impressed it was just chaotic and parking wasn’t helpful either didn’t know where to go once we parked up. Market had a strong fishy smell obviously it’s a fish market and as I was looking around at the different fishes the vendors had I couldn’t help but notice a few fishes that looked like it’s been sitting there for a while hence why the strong fish smell. Overall not a good experience wouldn’t come back here again.
Footscray Market – I finally visited for the first time after planning to go for so long, and now it’s officially one of my favorite spots in Melbourne! This is not a fancy tourist market, but a truly local one, full of life, energy, and diversity. The atmosphere is buzzing with vendors calling out, the aroma of fresh food, and people from many different cultures blending together beautifully.nnYou’ll find everything here – Asian, African, Indian, and Western foods all in one place. The produce is fresh, the seafood selection is huge, and the prices are very reasonable.nnA special highlight for me is the **beef section** – there’s such a wide variety of cuts like chuck steak and topside, all at amazing prices. Angus beef for just over $10 per kilo… unbelievable! For meat lovers, this place is heaven. The seafood stalls are also impressive, with so many categories and options. I even spotted frozen clams labeled from Thailand which I had never seen back home.nnIt takes me about 40 minutes to drive here, but it’s absolutely worth it to stock up. Footscray Market is vibrant, affordable, and a true cultural melting pot – highly recommended for anyone who loves food and local experiences.
Standing at the corner of Hopkins Street looking at the massive Footscray Market complex. This is the heart of the suburb's economy, known for its 'Fresh & Cheap' philosophy. The area is always lively with shoppers and commuters, especially with the iconic green Melbourne trams passing right by the entrance. It's a true landmark of the inner west
