It doesn’t have the tourist vibes of south Melbourne Market or Queen Victoria Market even though it’s 2 train stops away from Melbourne CBD. Footscray Market is built for the locals, it has all the amenities for anyone doing their grocery run, from getting a homely Vietnamese breakfast or Filipino lunch to getting artisan western baked goods. FM has it all, including a food court with television ls and at food/groceries at an affordable price at a time of inflation. With so many stalls variety is also important and the produce is very different to what you get from the supermarkets chains.nThere are paid parking upstairs, Asian butchers, seafood mongers, Poultry butchers and florists.nThe vibe at FM is truly reflective of markets in Asia, fast paced, hustling and non apologetic for the way business is conducted. For the tourist it will come as a shock, for a local this is FM.

Very busy place on the weekends, but if you are after fresh meat, fish, veggies, and fruit, it's the place to be. They even sell live lobsters .. boxes of mangoes and strawberries and a great place to get some Vietnamese cuisine if you're a fan or even some great bread. The area still needs a bit of loving care, but all in all, the grunge look is still fashionable...
