Nachos were good, not amazing. The Tortillas were mixed and were nice. Zucchini chips had good batter and not too oily Just FYI, they don’t sell coffee
Overall had a decent experience at Fonda Mexican at Flinders Lane! The restaurant itself was really cool and unique! The venue is in a cool and interesting location! The ascetics of the place was really cool! The food was delicious aswel! We had 4 cocktails all of which where delicious, 2 tacos chicken & pork and the chicken and pork quesadillas plus the nachos! The food tasted fresh and delicious! The only reason I didn’t give Fonda Mexican a 5 star review was because of the service! I found the service to be underwhelming and not the nicest! At best it was bare minimum! No smiles sadly! Otherwise the food was delicious and it was a fun night out! : 4/5 stars from me :
The four of us had lunch here mid-week. Overall a good experience, efficient service and good vibes. Could have a been a five star rating if it wasn’t for a few minor things. The good: sharing plates were great, we had the sweet potato chips and nachos, both were fresh, crunchy and well spiced. For mains we had the bim-bap bowl which is a nice take on the Korean version, and then the fish, prawn and beef tacos, all were good and well executed. The margaritas where as expected too, maybe slightly to sweet but nothing major. The not-so-good: The fried cauliflower we had for starters was a bit disappointing generally and more specifically a few pieces were frozen throughout. I understand not all dishes can be cooked fresh, but at least make sure they’re cooked all the way. Other than that a few hot sauces on the side and more authentic Mexican flavours wouldn’t go amiss.
Fresh ingredients, delicious food. Highly recommend prawn taco and blueberry margarita. Restaurant is a little noisy, good vibes after all!
Fonda has been a go-to of mine for years. They are super reliable and reasonably priced. The gluten-free and vegan options are abundant which is always amazing. The food and cocktails are delicious and the service is almost always great. I’ll definitely keep coming back here.
Nice enough food. 6 items cost $98, so not the cheapest food chain. The burrito bowls have a nice twist with crisp chick peas. Staff were very friendly.
Was certainly not disappointed trying out this modern mexican restaurant. The fact that it was crowded was testament to its popularity. The food taste great although I don't think the flavours are truely mexican. The fries were especially nice, the burritos bowl was to die for, and the service staffs were excellent. Would eat here everyday if I were to live here.
The restaurant has an interesting layout with an open kitchen, which I actually thought was cool. You order food from the QR code in the tables which was a cool idea but made modifications a little more difficult. The food was delicious. The service was very friendly but a little inconsistent on wait time but if you’re in good company it will be fine. I recommend Fonda. Get the Chicken Nachos!
The restaurant is situated in a good location. The food is merely average. The tortilla in particular didn't taste good. The staff member who served me and my friends was accommodating and friendly though. I've eaten in another Fonda restaurant before and the food didn't taste good either. Other Mexican restaurants are certainly better. I won't be eating at Fonda again.
Mexican style food in a modern atmosphere, a little on the expensive side. The chicken quesadilla is great, flavourful and decent portion size. The chicken is cooked perfectly. The burrito on the other hand is not so worthy of praise. Unfortunately it is filled with too much greens and not enough beef and other fillings, especially for the price we paid. It also needed some sauce to go with it. Dare I say it, GYG makes a better burrito. The drink is decent, my partner said it tastes fruity and not overly alcoholic. It is certainly a good companion to the rest of the meal. Overall I think the experience is good, and I would go back again just not for the burrito.
