I recently visited the Flying Duck Hotel in Prahran with friends to try their $20 Counter Meals, available from 12-3pm on weekdays only. The value is excellent, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere is fantastic with both indoor and outdoor spaces available, catering to any preference. Pet friendly too. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely be back!
This place is an absolute gem and had a lovely experience. Our waitress was very friendly and approachable. The vibe was excellent with an open fire, loads of diners also enjoying the experience and interiors was also interesting. We had a table of 8 and we thank you for looking after us. Vegetarian options: Loads of options Dietary restrictions: Loads of gluten free options Parking: Parking was an issue so I’d recommend getting here early Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes no steps
A great experience on a winter's day. We've been here a number of times and it just gets better. Terrific service, a quality and interesting food & wine list plus the pub classics. The lamb shoulder to share is as good as you'll fined anywhere - wow. Well done to everyone involved!Food: 5/5
I came with a reasonably large group of 15 people. I will always be impressed when a restaurant gets all that many meals out hot and simultaneously! I had my go-to Chicken Schnitzel, and it was great. Crispy on the outside and real chicken on the inside. The staff were friendly, and the inside was done well. I loved the vibe of the ‘indoor/outdoor’ plant room, that we had a drink in after the meal.
Looks like your typical neighbourhood pub from the outside but surprisingly well maintained interior with big outdoor/atrium with roof cover on most areas. The food was pretty good. The fish and chips were flaky, quite moist and decent serving. The sauce on the raw fish is refreshing and a little spicy. Service is friendly and quick. Food - 7 Service - 8 Vibe - 9 Price - $$
I am considering flying in once a month from Sydney for their steak night Monday. Totally worth it. My mate who works in hospitality gave his thumb of approval and ended up ordering two plates for himself! Properly cooked to your specifications with sauce to die for. What more do you want?
This place is awesome! We took a party of eight to the pub on Sunday. All of us were super impressed with the whole experience. The food was top quality and affordably priced, the pub had a great atmosphere but best of all was the service. Our waiter, Rory, was fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble. Flying Duck boss, if you are reading this, so should give him a pay rise!
I experienced a Thursday night parmi for my good friend from works farewell dinner. I enjoyed my first carlton draught and progressed to order a chicken parmi as did my financial accountant Cameron. Dinner is served with a sarcastic comment from the Flying Duck waitress. Enjoy that she said. We did not. One of the sorriestt looking parmis I have ever consumed. Woolies ham, not enough sauce and over cooked. In my 26 years of eating experience I would not recommend this meal. My friend Cam is even more angry that he could not write a review. I hope you're happy. Sincerely Matt
A hidden gem where you get amazing food that warrants the price. Staff were welcoming as soon as I walked through the door - I think I’ve found my new local!Food: 4/5
ORDERED:   Lightly battered fish and chips: with chunky tartare sauce & salad $27.00 I paid $27.32 which included a card surcharge. REVIEW: The fish and chips didn't do it for me. The fish tasted pungent/fishy which was on the side of unpleasant. We came for lunch, and appeared to be their first customers of the day. Unsure if this affected the quality of the fish. Secondly, the light batter was very moist. It looked promisingly crunchy but was very soggy. Nothing hits me harder than the wrecking ball of disappointment. The accompanying salad was unwieldy. It featured some sprigs of herbs still on the stem and some thickly cut vegetables. The flavours were alright, but instead of leaving the stems I'd rather the Flying Duck Hotel leave me with a completely edible salad. One cannot help but wonder if $27 for fish and chips at this quality is too much.   Regardless, the atmosphere and the service was fantastic. They renovated this place, and it feels very classy and lovely. There's a strong sense of earthiness from the green tones from the booths and the invitingly warm brown tones from the exposed brick and dark brown timber. Overall, it's a gorgeous establishment.   Staff are incredibly friendly as well. They were generously willing to pile us up with complimentary aioli and tomato sauce. I can imagine myself having a fun, relaxed time at Flying Duck but with another dish to eat.
