When I was 9 one of my front teeth was broken in half by a tennis racket and I went to FDC, I have been going there yearly ever since and I have a great time every time I go there.

Hello "Draggs Booyah": as your review was not submitted via a google user account (which can be responded to) Feilding Dental Centre has to post a response as a review (unless Google can advise otherwise please). We are sorry to read of your recent experience and hope that your extraction site has now healed but patient confidentiality means we are unable to discuss specifics on a public forum. However, generally speaking extractions are a last resort treatment as they are essentially amputating part of the body. This is not something we undertake lightly, and is most frequently necessary due to advanced tooth decay or bone disease (or both), usually because oral health care has been neglected. At Feilding Dental Centre we care for and treat thousands of patients each year and thankfully we cannot recall the last time such an unfortunate incident occurred. We are not perfect and do our best for patients - sometimes under very stressful conditions for both parties. As clinicians we have no control over the body's healing process and therefore routinely call patients who have had extractions a few days later to ensure they are on the road to recovery. We also have no control over when patients attend for treatment, and experience teaches that those who delay treatment often incur more stress and financial cost than those who do not delay seeking help. As you have posted anonymously we cannot be certain of who you are or of the accuracy of the content of your post. We invite constructive criticism but can only respond when we have all the facts. Please feel free to contact us directly to help enable us to improve our standards of patient care. Thank you.

I have found that a honest bad review is really hard to write, I have edited this multiple times as I want to ensure that its fair and easy to read. I wish FDC all the best, and hope that I was a one off. Story: When calling around I told everyone I needed a K10 tooth extracted, and FDC quoted the cheapest in Feilding/Palmerston North area. unfortunately The extraction cost was way way above what I was quoted. I was also charged for a New Patient comprehensive oral exam, yet no inspection of the rest of my mouth was undertaken. He did mention that there was a hole in the tooth next to the one extracted, but that's more of an observation more than a comprehensive exam. During the extraction the tip of the tooth broke off and is still in the gum. Before the extraction he told me that a Hospital visit may be required if it broke, when it did break he back peddled saying it should be fine. Edit* I had a follow up call two days later, about the extraction. Told them that there still is a sore spot in the top of my mouth, and I was rather concerned. They showed concern as the tip of the tooth broke off, and it maybe on the move. she said a follow up appointment maybe necessary if the spot remains sore on after a couple more days. Was worried about cost, yet they offered a free appointment to look at the extraction site. Edit* Turns out that when I entered the receptionist made it clear any extra work undertaken would be charged, which i was most unhappy about. At the free appointment the dentist put a horrible tasting coating over the extraction site, that was meant to last two days. It fell out after 4 hours. The dentist showed little regard to the actual sore spot on the side of my gum, which I can feel something hard under the surface sticking out. Edit* 2 weeks on, still lightly swollen, still have the sore spot on the side of my gum and can still feel something hard. What a horrible experience with this dentist, never going back. Edit* Months on and it seems either bone or tooth fragments are coming to the surface of the extraction site. quite a bit of puss came out with them. 2 weeks after the last piece came out the site finally healed up as it should.
