Definitely one of the most interesting hostels I have stayed in! Very cute, has a lot of character, feels more like a home than a hostel. Very good for the price! I don't think this place would be for everyone, but if you are chill and want to stay somewhere that feels more like a home then I think you will really enjoy it!
I've been here in the end of 2019 and when I look back now I can say this was the best place to connect with other travellers from all over the world. I felt welcome from the very first moment there and I made great memories with trips Piha Beach not far from the hostel. I don't know how it is now, but back then we just had one bathroom and one room with just a toilet but that was absolutely fine and it was always clean. We cooked together in the mornings and in the evenings, we got our tasks ro clean up afterwards and just enjoyed each others company. I would recommend this place to every traveller, the new ones to get some good ideas and inspiration what needs to appear on your travel plan and the "old" ones to share their experience and see some people again.
For me the best hostel during my stay in nz, I could feel at home, always clean. The always vegetarian or vegan breakfast and dinner are a giant plus. I respect everyone and for nature. I recommend it.Rooms: 5/5
Definitely not for everyone, the atmosphere here is best described as festival-like when it's busy. That includes queueing for the very clean! toilets, of which there are two. Meals are communal and free, and so is breakfast and lunch. You're allowed to pick some fruit from the gardens: the plums, tangerines, apples and blackberries are all great. There's a lot of people here which is usually not my thing but I've come to feel very comfortable in the week that I stayed here, you can really do your own thing and interact whenever you feel like it.
Well, the experience has been great. The staff is so lovely and helpful. This is not a place for everybody, its culture is interesting, if you are looking for a place clean and in the middle of everything this is not for you. We slept in a Cabin not really comfortable or clean, a little dusty to be honest, but despite that it was a nice experience. The location is acceptable is you want to stay out of the Downtown, there are buses and trains near so you can basically go everywhere in Auckland. I strongly suggest to stay here some days. Worth a visit.
Feels like more of a big share house instead of a hostel-at-your-service. So not a place for everyone, but if it is what you're after, then it's a fantastic place. Communal vegan breakfasts and dinners create a nice atmosphere. There's people staying/working WWOOFing and there's paying travellers. A bit far out from the city, but the people I met were great, which for me is the most important thing.
feels like home. not your average hostel. the owner was incredibly kind and hospitable. if you want to be a part of a community i cannot recommend this place enough.
Very nice place. It is just a friendly community. Everybody is easygoing and helping in the house. I just stayed for one night. But I felt welcome just right when I arrived. I don't mind if there are no locks. You know the people in the house. And the food is good. It is not so common for a hostel.
the feel of staying at this place is different to a backpacker. you feel welcomed and the staff is friendly. cleanliness is not the main aim here as you will find spiders and cobwebs everywhere. breakfast is included in the package which is good. do not expect a lavish breakfast though. this place is pretty much out of the city. Another thing very unique is the open door policy of the toilets and bathroom. they do not have latches to the doors. all tou need to do is turn the board that says occupied or vacant. thats all
This place is a joke!!! No locks on any rooms. Generally unpleasant and dirty throughout, with the same bowl of porridge topped up daily for breakfast. We are easygoing people who have stayed in a array of hostels across the world and this is by far the worst, poorly managed place we have stayed. Extremely miss-advertised and photoed. Would not recommend.
