Terrible doctors! No empathy at all. My 3 year olds daughter has been having trouble with her eyes, watering and in pain with the light Screaming when she goes from dark to light and they said it’s not an emergency and she will need to wait a month to see a dr! She is 3 and could be going blind for all they know! Just terrible! Heartbreaking for a mom to feel that her daughter is not important and that I do not know what is an emergency for my daughter. I know my daughter better than any doctor. I know if something is not right. Lucky the receptionist with short black hair overheard my concern, and jumped in with her knowledge, and was really helpful and referred me to MECS, this was after she heard me saying that I know my daughter and I know this is an emergency since I sat in A&E for 3hrs and A&E told me that MY DOCTOR had to refer my daughter to an eye specialist. Why did the other receptionists not know this....thank goodness for this receptionist, otherwise I would have been at my wits end for a month until the appointment they wanted to give me which was at the end of March!!
Dr William Ocen is the best GP there is. Always professional, calm, and kind. Never makes you feel like an inconvenience. Every appointment with him feels easy and productive. I trust him with my life. Reception staff at all the surgeries always lovely and patient.
This surgery is a joke, my partner was third in the queue to make an emergency appointment for my 11 year autistic son who had a bad ear ache and possibly needed some sort of antibiotic, only to be told there are no appointments available and either ring 111 or go to the hospital. What are the point of doctors surgeries anymore.
My whole experience with this gp isn't that great but that was the last straw on the camel's back. I'm waiting 3 weeks now for my sick note. So bad communication. Because of them I didn't get paid from my job despite I had the right to do it. Unacceptable
I was originally pretty hard in my previous review of EMP, at the time the surgery was struggling and I personally felt like this was affecting the service and attention that was being delivered by the surgery as it grew by taking on the patients of other closing surgeries without the ability to scale. Over a year in, they have started to wrestle control of the vast task they have, things are improving, they are consistent, and I feel my review is no longer fair. The team at EMP have delivered high quality and consistent support, I believe most of that is down to the high quality monitoring of Dr Chauhan, Dr Siva, and Chris Finch, thank you all, and I am sure the improvements will continue to flow.
Service here is absolutely appalling. Truly disappointing and have finally decided to leave this practice as it's significantly impacting my mental health. The receptionist appear to be clueless, no one ever seems to know what they are actually doing and they all contradict each other. I am on anti-depressants and I have repeated prescriptions and I can't get them until I am seen by a GP. It takes multiple attempts to get through to the appointment line and when I'm finally first in the queue the line drops and I'm back to square one. If I manage to get an appointment I'm given an appointment slots within 3-4 weeks!! The website they continuously refer patients to use is awful and hardly ever works.
Turned up 15 minutes late for an appointment having waited weeks to be actually able to see a doctor. Was surprised to be told that the doctor was refusing to see me as I was late. This made my already high blood pressure go off the chart. I can’t remember a time when I’ve turned up on time only to wait, sometimes for over an hour, if the doctor is running late. I didn’t complain or make a fuss as I know doctors can’t guarantee to see anyone at a specific time as it very much depends on what happens with previous patients. So you can imagine my disappointment/frustration/anger when I found out that this doesn’t apply both ways. Doesn’t feel unreasonable to expect some common sense and flexibility from the doctors at Eltham Medical Practice.
They share a building with a hospital and chose to use the reception area, but receptionists are not helpful. When asked 'Is this Eltham Community Hospital'? There response was 'This is a doctor's surgery'. I was turning to walk out of the building before they directed me to the hospital reception hidden in a corridor. The hospital needs more signage and them a lot less.
The most difficult practice to see or speak to a GP. I've reverted making phone appointments with GP but missed on several occasions because it takes WEEKS to see a gp face to face. When you miss 1 phone call from GP that's it you are back to square one in trying to get the next appointment. Everytime i call to wanting to have to rearrange for an appointment it takes me 30 - 40 mins on the phone waiting to speak to someone and then when trying to make an appointment you are looking at around 6 - 7 weeks to even get a phone appointment or longer if it was face to face. I can't wait to register with a different practice. Right now I'm in eltham I don't know who I can speak to in the meantime
Took 4 days and counting to write my prescription. There's always a long queue and it's difficult to get a hold of them as they take days to respond to the emails as well so the only way is to go and visit them in person which is not possible always. This is so frustrating. Would definitely switch to some reliable and more convenient GP as their responsiveness says a lot about their medical services.
