Little cafe with a big heart! Dr. Jekyll is the mecca for great coffee, breakfast, brunch or lunch in St. Kilda. A great little find. Every dish seems to be made with quality ingredients and attention to detail. Staff are friendly and the service is excellent. Recommended!

What happened to Dr Jekyll? What was once an inviting cafe with a delicious and changing menu,sunny window seats stuffed with pillows and cosy blankets is now a glaring bland noisy place where the staff treat you like they're doing you a favor. I started in the courtyard where servers walked past me several times until one finally decided to clear the table and offer me a coffee. It was cold and the blanket looked dirty and manky so I moved inside. There i sat on a rock hard bench with a single pillow getting burned by the morning sun.the noise was incredible and extremely unpleasant,like the entire team has decided to throw glasses and cutlery around with as much force as they could muster. They used to play really good alternative music,but that too was missing this morning. At first I thought they might be busy or understaffed as it's Easter Monday,but that was not the case.after a while i got cutlery and a menu and ordered immediately as i (used to) enjoy their breakfast salad. By the time the salad arrived,i still hadn't received my coffee,but watched take away customers come in and out with their orders.I had to ask for my coffee in the end. The salad was a boring version of its former mouthwatering glory and the bacon mediocre. By the end of my meal the incessant banging and clattering and the discomfort made me eager to leave as soon as i could.i asked for the remainder of my very standard latte (most definitely not worth a 20 minute wait) to be put in a take away container,but half of it was spilled out and I ended up just paying to get out of the place. This morning's experience was so poor that I doubt I'll ever return.

The friendliest of staff. Great food, and brilliant coffee. The Dr Jekyll eggs are a highlight, plus the daily pie. Always good specials too. Big thumbs up!

Dr Jekyll is after one visit already one of my favourite coffeeplaces is Melbourne. I have been in Melbourne for a while now and tried many of them, as I just love my coffee and can't go without one for too long, but I hadn't been here yet. Friends kept reccomending Dr Jekyll to me, but for some reason I just never got to it. Let me start with the place itself. Very nice atmosphere, authentic design, relatively cheap compared to a lot of other places I have visited, and I love their garden area where you can enjoy the last bits of sun in the late afternoon. The staff is really nice and you can really tell that the people there enjoy and take pride in what their doing. I had a lovely morning salad, a delicious coffee and don't get me started about the peanut butter cookie (according to my girlfriend, best cookie she ever tasted). This place (in combination with my awesome cup of coffee) really made my morning. Thanks guys I just can't wait to visit Dr. Jekyll again and I am pretty sure I will end up in the place more often than I want to admit.  It's an absolute must for every visitor in Melbourne and you will miss this place when you leave Melbourne ;)

Great place and coffee. The food portions are a bit thin for my appetite but the prices reflect that since most of the options are well below the average price of the area. The atmosphere is surely top amazing. The staff is always happy to help and depending the day you can either enjoy the inside of the store or the outside when it's warm. Recommend it if you happen b to be around.
