Inside The Mantle building is Don Tapa, Magna Pizza, Short order burger and Alter ego bar. We had lunch at Don Tapa, an asian infusion tapas bar. The building is rustic warehouse style but the food is as good as you'd get at some of Perth's best restaurants. We had prawn dumplings, in a rich aromatic creamy sauce. Plus pulled beef tacos with asian spices. Both were fresh and spicy chilly but not too hot and v delicious. For dessert freshly baked donuts in a rum syrup with lime ice cream taste just like a cinnamon donut and a kind of key lime pie without pastry beneath a bed of chocolate dust, with marshmallow, ice cream and tropical fruit. The lime was a bit sour for my liking i preferred the donut but i still ate it all . Had a couple of glasses of wine and a very good coffee hard to find in Perth I imagine it would be quite hot in summer not sure it's air conditioned but if you sit outside theres about 8 tables on the street it is quite tranquil, except today as not much traffic passes. The parking station across the road is large and free on Sundays. It doesn't have views but the food is their selling point. UPDATE: have been back quite a few times for cocktails, dinner & breakfast. Cocktails were quite small so disappointed with that but dinner has been good, but their menu seems to change a lot so it’s hard to know what to order from the description if you haven’t seen it before. We made a mistake of ordering share plates with too much meat and no vegetables. The “harvest breakfast” is all ingredients from local WA farmers and has a very hip menu. Great if your looking for something different from the usual breakfast offerings you get at cafes. We had eggs Benedict on cheesy waffles with kale, chilli hollandaise and kimchi. I’m now a regular at Don Tapa
Wow! We have been travelling around Australia for 4 months and this is by far the best food we have had out. The service was fantastic the atmosphere was friendly and warm, the staff were on the ball with genuine smiles on their faces and the executive chef had his finger right on the pulse. Wish I could give six stars. Will be back before we leave Perth.
Amazing Service!!!!! Best place to eat in Fremantle, Perth! 3rd time I've been here twice for Brunch & once for dinner & the food is so tasty and really decent pricing - fully recommend the French Toast Berry Jaffle!! What makes this place have an edge over everyone else is the amazing customer service by the staff who are friendly, attentive & create a cosy environment : Every experience here has been an enjoyable one and we'll definitely be back! Octopus was over cooked and burnt which in turn was bitter. The lemon in the ceviche over powered the entire dish, and tasted of cheap bottled lemon juice, not fresh. The goats cheese wontons were soggy, lacking seasoning and not at all appetising. The service was lacking even though numbers were low. There was a girl towards the end of our dining, that somewhat made up for the experience, overall the service and food were a big let down. I rate this restaurant two thumbs down and would not recommend to friends.
Been to this place four times now and never been disappointed. The ever changing menu always has the freshest ingredients, making for an exciting combination of delicious tapas. The staff are also very warm and welcoming and can talk you through any dish on the menu. "A great little all rounder" and would highly recommend a visit.
Great food The soft tacos were awesome, decent beer selection and good service... was slightly overpriced I feel but ok for a once in a while meal. The venue is very cool, I enjoyed the ambience and music. Lost a star to price but still worth a visit
Really enjoyable food. The flat bread was scrumptious! Unfortunately service by wait staff was very slow at times. We had to ask for someone to take our food order.
Food wasnt great. Eggs were overcooked. The chef was also very rude to us in regards to my friend requesting some tomato sauce for the kids. We walked out of there very unhappy with the food and service
Excellent! Had the chef’s choices all new menu. All dishes delicious and great service too. We will be back!
This was by far the best tapas restaurant that I've been in Perth - delicious food, great price and great service! Adjoining bar - Atler Ego, served some awesome cocktails by equally awesome bar staff. Definetly coming back
