Story

Depot is a fast paced and fresh eatery and oyster bar by award winning New Zealand chef, writer and TV presenter Al Brown.
Open from 7am for coffee and a bacon & egg doona right through to lunch and dinner, our emphasis is on delicious small plates, with many of the dishes cooked over charcoal or hardwood. With a focus on fresh and seasonal New Zealand produce, think delicious turbot sliders, slow cooked crisp pork hocks, roasted whole fish and wood roasted chicken. Sit at the bar or at a table and let our welcoming team look after you.

On behalf of all the team at Depot including head chef Kyle Street and managers Joe Williams and Warren Ford we look forward to seeing you soon.

The finest restaurant to go to if you want to sample New Zealand oysters in Auckland's inner city. The variety of local oysters here is without parallel. Served with fresh mixed vinegars in a truly friendly way. Depot is a real epitome for Al Brown's famed easy style and truly unfussy service. One totally New Zealand emblem of Auckland's current food style. You'll always feel uber welcomed. You'll also adore this exceptional venue's cozy informality. I always go early. You will adore Depot. It's a beaut!

The tapas are to die for and are perfect for sharing. We also indulged in a cheeky bottle (or two) of Merlot which was fantastic. The oysters are second to none and the atmosphere and ambiance is just fantastic. Sitting outside with a little blanket over your lap is the perfect setting to enjoy time with my wife.

Amazing food and services. The Orongo Bay oysters were so sweet and fresh, I slurped it up in one go. The meat literally falls off the bone - lamb rib. It was so soft. I love the Squid Ink Linguine, just the right amount. Perfectly seasoned. I love this place. If you are still hungry, give yourself some Fergus Bone Marrow, simply melts in your mouth.

Fantastic little restaurant! A must go when you visit Auckland! It has a very relaxed atmosphere but with very serious food and service. The oysters (and clams) are open on demand and the list of mains available are very unique, I had the bone marrow which was great!

Wow what a treat, this is a perfect example of modern NZ cuisine! We tried a wide range of the dishes and were extremely satisfied with everything. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and wines. The atmosphere was very nice for such a bustling restaurant. I am very glad to have dined here and would recommend to any traveler A+++
