Reviews
I saw two separate psychologists at this practise, this was years ago but I’ve only recently recovered from my phobia which is why I started seeing them so have found the courage to write this review. The first psychologist was highly judgmental when I told her that my mother bed-shared with me when I was a baby. Bedsharing although uncommon in the western world is the best possible way to raise children as it meets their emotional needs through the night. This girl obviously needs to do some reading outside of the mainstream narrative of crib sleeping which is actually cruel towards babies who have no voice. The second one was Dennison herself- she told me she has learnt a new technique which works well with phobias called “havening”, she rubbed my arms for close to 9 sessions with absolutely no difference to my phobia. These sessions were circa $170 an hour. I saw a different psychologist who was able to help in just one sitting by giving me the tools that I need to work on my anxiety and take them home to practise as much or as little as I need. She recommended the acceptance and commitment therapy and also told me to continue trying havening. It took me years but I’m almost there. Dennison kept milking me for money instead of recommending me to practise havening or any other techniques on my own which is really the whole point of seeing a psychologist.
The director is toxic and rude, I would not recommend anyone engage her services, she needs to work on her own character and reflect on how she engages and interacts with the others. Horrible, entitled, toxic and unprofessional to say the least. Not worth 1 star.
I have had two very different experiences at this clinic. While the first person I saw here was great. Transferring to another in order to use an eating disorder plan was a disaster. After me going through a three month process of getting this plan in place. The clinician, despite this being the reason I transferred to her in the first place three months beforehand, decided that she wasnt keen to use this plan to fund my treatment. From talking to other health professionals her reasoning was a personal choice. I'm ultimately left very confused, traumatized and in a very chaotic place internally which is not great especially during this chaotic time. Ultimately I would not recommend this clinic to anyone of middle or lower class. Anyone looking for a clinician who shows clinical responsibility. Or anyone who's sanity, health and wellbeing is dependent on good practice
Considerate, kind and professional practice
