The books are in an awesome condition. Library is clean and staff is very friendly.nI love spending my time here. Thanks to sarah who takes the book chat sessions - my reading has become 10x.nI have deducted 1 star for noise - adults are having telephone video calls a woman is always there on her fixed spot and children are recklessly shouting all over without any parent’s intervention.
This review is aimed for Manly Library, as I use their services more, but I have to include the services of Warringah Mall library & Dee Why library, as they have a bearing in my experiences.nnFor over a decade, I have had the privilege of relying on the invaluable services of Manly Library, which has profoundly enriched my life in myriad ways. The exceptional support I have received has been transformative, particularly during the six to seven years I represented myself in Family Court, a disclosure I make transparently for a compelling reason. Manly Library became my workspace, and the staff’s unwavering assistance, ranging from practical help with scanning and printing to crucial emotional support, converting documents to PDF and back again, was instrumental in navigating some of the most challenging phases of my life.nnIt is important to acknowledge that patrons of this library seek refuge for far more than just academic pursuits; the library serves as a vital community hub, offering so much more than conventional study spaces.nnI wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to a few exceptional individuals, and I apologize to anyone I may inadvertently overlook: Maria, whose dedication and support have been invaluable throughout my journey, and whose accent never fails to make me smile; speaking of smiles, Vicky formerly of Manly Library, now at Dee Why Library, whose smile, impeccable fashion sense, and unwavering support consistently brightened my days; Mary, who tirelessly goes above and beyond to provide assistance with remarkable efficiency; and Lea, who recently aided me in navigating a critical legal deadline. I must also commend Nathan at Warringah Mall Library, whose timely support and boundless patience on a Saturday were truly invaluable in another matter of importance.nApologies again, to anyone I may have over looked, there has been many - you all do a stellar job. Thank you!nnThe role of a local library in our community is indispensable. I implore the NSW Government to reconsider any impending job and funding cuts that threaten to undermine these essential resources. Without the exceptional services of Manly Library and the dedication of its extraordinary staff, many - including myself - would have faced insurmountable difficulties in securing the support, refuge, and even a sense of belonging that we desperately require when faced with challenging and tumultuous times.nnThis review and advocacy serves not only as an acknowledgment of the vital role libraries play, but also as a heartfelt appeal for their continued existence as cornerstones of our community.
I noticed a bad smell during my short visit last week.nnI did leave for this reason.nnIMHO it could be the carpet.nnWould be interesting to know if there are any other highly sensitive readers, and borrowers, apart from myself.
Should be called ‘Dee Why Childcare Centre’ not a library. Kids screaming loudly everywhere while parents just stand there and watch. Meanwhile people are studying for important exams but the noise of kids is far too distracting. I asked a staff member about the noise but she told me it’s 2024 and this is how it is and I am stuck in some mid century library nostalgia. A room off to the side could be used for kid story time and singing but it will need acoustic doors. Parents need to take responsibility for their child’s noise the screaming is too much at times but it’s 2024 and parents can’t and don’t discipline their kids. You can’t tell anyone to do anything as it will be taken as offence. Find another library if you are thinking of using a actual library.
It could be a great place, good number of computers, has potential but as far as a library should be minimum quiet, this one is far from that. Mornings are busy with kids plying around and afternoon full with teenagers pretending they are going to study when actually just catching up after school to gossip what’s happening at school and their social lives. Great for flirting if you are their age, as that’s all they come here to do.
