Not sure how recently it became fully open but it has everything a normal Costco has and everything looks new. Except crowds. It was completely empty when we visited. No one at all at the food court, almost every aisle empty. I've never been at a Costco like this anywhere even the other one south of Paris. They even had free coffee and samples of their baked goods at the entrance! Actually felt sorry for the people preparing samples as no one was there to try so they were forced to mostly stand around... Plenty of parking and it's in a small strip with other stores as well. No issues using American membership card. And it's pretty close to Disneyland Paris! Not sure about public transport options but that's usually not a consideration at Costco...
Pretty disappointed with my experience at this store. The employees here have no common sense. I came through the main entry and then went through the checkout area to go to the toilet. Then I tried to walk back through the checkouts area to enter the store to meet up with my husband and two members tried to chase me down like I’m robbing the store. I’m not cutting any lines, I’m just walking through an open space to re-enter the store. Please train your employees better. I’ve never had this happen at ANY Costco in the US. This store doesn’t have as much merchandise as the other Costco. I will certainly not comeback here.
As a Costco veteran I am so happy to have Costco available in France. I only wish that we had one available in Normandy! One thing that could be useful, when checking out there is no need to put everything on the tapis… just leave everything in the cart if it isn’t too full and scan the barcodes quickly. It’s quicker and less work for your helpful employees. Maybe things have changed in California, but when I lived there before that was what they did …
If you have been to a Costco recently then you know what they have here. I was pleasantly surprised to see many of the same items from the States. Strangely, some were even the same price. Most stuff is about 20% more which makes sense with the VAT. I plan on stopping in every time it's convenient as you never know when you will need a gigantic $3,000 bottle of champagne or a 55gal drum of dill pickles.
Member since 2001. 1. Big difference in customer service from the US stores. 2. Had to wait 15 min for a sundae ...the front counter clerk was basically just checking receipts and not multitasking. Finally left without a smoothie. 3. The feel of employee apathy is very transparent. 4. Quality of the products is still top notch, but most of the items are made in France and not US. Probably catering for the local customers. 5. Most likely I will not visit due to poor customer service, and corporate need to revamp training in this area.
I visited for the first time this week, and the experience was amazing all thanks to one of the employees--Damien. My partner and I were looking at the fans and AC units, and he was so knowledgeable and helped us understand which models best suited our needs or not. I appreciated his help so much that I went back to ask him about other items. As a former retail employee, I understand how difficult it is to work in the industry, so I wanted to make sure Damien got the praise he deserves! TLDR: The selection is great and Damien should get a raise.
Had an unpleasant encounter with a cashier. Certain rules haven't been followed by us but she wasn't that friendly in telling us the problem. Anyway, another crew explained to us the issue and was able to address it the best way she can. On the other hand, products were good. Good offer and best place to buy in bulk
I love Costco in general for being a regular in LA, CA. I've only been to the new location, Pontault-Combault in France several times now, and I love it; a bit far from the Yvelines please come here, pretty please!, but so far so good. The staff is polite, competent, and very welcoming! The only damper is the website; sorry, I'm a techie and when I see Costco US website and I see the one in France…. I want to scream. Please update it for yesterday. It would be so easily to check for products availability and prices in advance instead of watching a rigid online catalog where you can't even zoom in and out to check the label of the product intended. Oh, and a home delivery feature would be grand… hello Kirkland Signature water, if you know what I mean!
Good selection of items, nice quality items. The Costco was fairly well organized except for the grocery items felt very far apart making shopping more difficult. Most problems extend from an inexperienced staff that was somehow very arrogant and rude towards members. It feels like they weren’t really trained well not knowing how to use foreign member cards, awkward entry verification despite second verification at register, distracted and demanding “security” for food court The priority at this store is definitely not the member experience. Lots of work to be done to improve.
We have visited many costcos in the UK, Spain and France over the last 20 or so years and this was by far the worst one ever. It looks as though it is not finished. When we turned up my wife wanted the toilet so went through the side where the cafe is and I mad the colossal error of taking my trolley through the same side. Miss officious jumped on me and saif no trolleys this side. I asked what if I wanted to speak to the membership desk. NO TROLLIES came the agressive reply. I chose to ignore and continued on my way. In the store I managed to be a pair of kirkland jeans which was the purpose of our visit and a few other items. The store seems to be only half used and the items are not in the same order aswe are used to finding in most costco stores. I wonder why they opened this one before it was ready. Not a great experience at all.
