Really enjoyable. Exemplary service from attentive and engaging waitstaff. The pasta dishes we enjoyed were perhaps a touch over Al Dente but I prefer that over overcooked pasta. Nothing worse. The seafood was very generous and wonderfully fresh. The truffle was fabulous. Good experience.
The steak was fantastic, totally worth the price. The squid ink pasta was surprising for us. We were looking for the black sauce kind, so we were a little bit disappointed when we saw the sauce was not black. However, the pasta itself tasted fantastic. Also, the tiramisu was also extraordinary. Pouring the coffee and taste it, wow. With the friendly and professional waiter, who shows great passion with their own food, what a lovely dinner.
Do yourself a favour and try the squid ink pasta if you haven't yet!! It is really special and exquisite. The mixed platter starter was also so yummy, there were many things on it like raisins and dried apricot and cheese and pickles, each bite is different and soooo fun. The restaurant gets busy fairly quickly I think so bookings are recommended. Otherwise good food, great atmosphere, don't be afraid to chat the owner for food and drink tips and have a great time!! Also the clean bathroom is a great plus!
A very delightful dinner experience in the Lygon street. The host was warm and customer service was solid. We had excellent dishes ask for their special scotch fillet carpaccio. Our three different types pasta was delicious blue cheese gnocchi, beef ragu, and salmon pasta and they made them in front of you open kitchen. We highly recommend this place and will go back.
Ambience: 9/10 Food: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Italian vibes for ambience. Very nice place for a date. Service was great and food was promptly. Very good portion of pasta. Ordered 4 pasta but our favourite was the squid ink pasta and the salmon pasta. The rest was still alright. The squid ink pasta really did surpassed my expectations. You can taste the sweetness of the seafood! We also ordered the cured meats before our meal. Portion was good for 4pax. Comes with rockets, breadsticks, dried fruits, and cheeses help balance out the salt, while sour pickles help cut through all that fat. Would come here again for the squid ink pasta! Recommended pasta choice
I don't live in Melbourne but I'd move just for this restaurant. They give you complimentary bread which I'm pretty sure is house made. Need I say more? The waiters and waitresses are lovely and charming. Fillipo was a gem to my mum and I. The menu is diverse and traditional. Love love love. Definitely will be my first stop next time I go back to Melbourne
Went there with some friends. The pasta was delicious. Very friendly and welcoming service. We had 3 different kind of pasta and just shared everything. The fagottini filled with spinach were our favorites! I definitely will go back and try the other dishes.
This Italian restaurant sits at the beginning of Lygon street next to the non-Italian strips of restaurants. I think it's one of the better ones compared to the other more well-established Italian restaurants in Little Italy. We ordered two different kinds of spaghetti, the pasta was Al dente and the sauces are so good! Bolognese seasoned nicely and the meat wasn't too heavy. The seafood sauce just had that hint of spaciness and the seafood tasted fresh. The Salumi Board was decent but nothing mind blowing. Service is friendly and food comes out pretty fast. REVIEW: Service was slow but the vibes were very nice. Da Guido actually originates up near Venice, with the chefs trained in Italy as well. It's an open kitchen and no matter where you're sitting in the restaurant, you can see the person who's making your meal. Making the connection was awesome. Up from already populated Lygon St, Da Guido adds a classy option to the Italian restaurant line-ups. Entrees were great. Buffalo mozzarella was soft, and so sweet and it was surprising that it didn't come with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar! But it didn't need it - it was perfect in its simplicity. Carpaccio was also interestingly wrapped up, instead of being spread out like I was used to. Also yummy and would order both if I were to come to Da Guido La Pasta again. From the mains, although the ravioli dish was more expensive, my friend and I liked the tagliolini Al nero di seppia more! Both the pasta dishes were perfectly al dente, with a satisfying bite to both. Ravioli was plain to me. This is making me wonder whether ravioli as a whole is the pasta for me, when this isn't the first time I've had this thought . Tagliolini al nero had the good parts of a seafood pasta. The iconic fresh ocean sweetness but the calamari ragu was heavy enough to pass as mince meat. So great! Disliked the dessert, although that's a personal preference. There were incredibly sour strawberry pieces arguably to make the dessert more sweet but it's the sour that makes me feel like pulling my face inwards. Left an aftertaste that made me question whether I really enjoyed my meal... so would definitely avoid. It's like cough medicine that's been soaked in that awful liquorice type flavour.
Easy to order as menu options are few. No specials of the day though which was a little disappointing.. unable to accommodate us inside which was a shame even though we had a booking.. Food was standard for Lygon street. Good attentive service.
