Beautiful camp site surrounded by eucalypt forest. Recently updated camping sites, picnic tables, electric BBQ’s and brand new meeting hut with wood fire and tables. Great for winter and rainy weather. Various types of camp sites for tents, camper trailers, caravans and vans. We were really impressed by the standard of the campsites. All are flat with superb wood fire places for cooking and heating. Need to buy some wood in the valley on the way up and bring your own water. Most sites you can face your set up towards the bush. We saw a Red Necked Wallaby, Lace Monitor and so many beautiful birds. Also have an area for large groups and another small area for people who don’t have a booking. Highly recommended. Best sites are number 1 through 7 as they face the bush but all of them are great. Also saw horses on the trails. Very relaxing place.
Easy to get to but the road in is pretty tough with enormous ruts and holes big enough to bury a horse in. Only 2wd if your careful, very careful. Large open camp site still undergoing works but looks promising as a whole. Toilets are good and not smelly. Fresh turf laid recently. No fire pits at most sites so use what's been provided. Wildlife are very friendly and seem pretty tame kookaburras. Can get a little windy and cold in June. On the downside, the site is right next to the main road through and as a result, bike riders use this spot as a meeting place most weekends early in the morning on their commute through the mountains. Not a big deal unless your trying to sleep. Quite a few people sneak in late at night and sneak out early to avoid paying and also illegally collect wood from the surrounding bush. Total lack of respect.
We did an overnighter at Cutter's, had an awesome time, totally chilled, we did a trail to the creek, would thoroughly recommend
Cosy camping in the mountains... Nice camp ground layout and facilities. Get fully booked early.
I didn't camp here but the camping grounds look fantastic. The loop walk is spectacular.
Good campground. Byrill Creek walk from there with Giant Figs was a highlight.
Great campsite for a night or a week. Plenty of space in every site, most of them with a private firepit. Covered day area, gas barbecues and even a camp kitchen with a fireplace. Nice walks starting from the campsite and plenty of swimming or bathing options along the local creek there may be some leeches so bring insect repellents. The road in may be quite rough bordering to 4wd only, however seems they come back to grate it and maintain it quite often during summer. Lots of wildlife at day and even more at night so bring your torch and enjoy
It is incredible that you don't have any advice or warning from NSW national parks about access to this remote campground. Driving from Cadell Rd towards the camp, it is by all means not suitable for any other vehicle but 4WD. There's a big board about site booking requirement, no phone reception, but no warning about road in horrible condition. After lots of troubles, when we finally got there, the campsite we booked and paid for was already occupied by car and tent.. next morning we spoke to other people who told us that their paid spot was also occupied by random people who just came and grabbed first available spot. What's the purpose of booking and paying in advance??
Facilities are nice and clean. Camp site was spacious and enjoyed staying here. We went to short hike and could see cool rain forest.
Small and relatively quiet campground. It provides nearby access to areas of Mebbin Forest. There is plenty of parking space and a toilet. There isn't much else to do besides varied length hikes through the forest. Be sure to check out the Byrill Creek walking track in front of the main car park. In general, a great bird watching spot.
