Lunch with my partner. First time, we recently had lunch here in Newcastle and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. We ordered a beef burger and calamari, but both dishes were far from satisfying. The beef burger was extremely dry, and the calamari was not only dry but also very oily. We were already hungry when we arrived, and to make matters worse, we waited 35 minutes for our food. When we finally checked on our order, only one burger had arrived, and we had to wait even longer for the second dish. The kitchen seemed disorganized, as I noticed other patrons also checking on their food status. The service was poor, with long waits and little attention to detail. Sadly, this experience has left us with no desire to return for lunch.nDon’t recommend it.
Felt like a steak for Sunday night dinner. For a pub there was only one option which was surprising but it was Sunday night. 300g Sirloin with chips and salad. The salad was nothing special but fresh. Chips were how I like them, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The steak was interesting. A little dry in spots, but not bad. Possibly my fault as I like steaks medium and this was a low fat steak. I like fat on a steak and the parts that had some fat were perfect. Cooked perfectly for a medium steak and beautifully seared on the outside with a nice flame grill. Don't let me sound like I am complaining. If I could cook a steak like this I would be more than happy and so much better than many steaks I have had recently.nAs for the two young ladies who looked after me I hope the pub looks after them. Excellent service. Polite, attentive and first class.nGive the pub a go. Excellent value for money and overall a great experience.
We found this gem by accident during our visit from Alaska! Apparently they have a new chef and new menu! Our steak was perfection and the watermelon salad was exceptional. Our compliments to the Chef! And thank you Grace. Lovely dining experience !!
Went for lunch. Limited and expensive menu. Ordered sirloin steak for $46 what I received was a tiny steak thinly sliced and fanned out on plate obviously to appear more substantial. Only other items one grilled mushroom and six cherry tomatoes. The steak while cooked to my liking was almost stone cold. The entire meal was the size of an entree. Husband had market fish swordfish, tiny piece, small handful of chips a few lettuce leaves and a huge pile of tartare sauce to fill up the plate. Will not be back way better alternatives in the area.
The awesome team at Customs extended an opportunity for me to explore the Bell/clock tower. Thanks guys. Appreciate the friendship and the opportunity.
