Coopers Stadium

Story

Norwood Oval is a suburban oval in the western end of Norwood, an inner eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. Norwood, Payneham & St Peters Council own the Oval but rent it to the Norwood Football Club. It has been used for a variety of sporting and community events including baseball, soccer, rugby league and American football, but its main use is for Australian rules football. It is the home ground for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League .The oval is one of two sporting venues in Adelaide to carry the name of Coopers Stadium. The other is the soccer specific Hindmarsh Stadium which also has naming rights sponsorship from Coopers Brewery.Australian Rules FootballThe Oval has a capacity of 22,000 people, with grandstand seating for up to 3,900. The ground record crowd was set in 1971 when 20,280 turned up to watch an SANFL match between Norwood and their traditional SANFL rivals Port Adelaide. Norwood Oval's dimensions are 165m x 110m making it the narrowest ground in use in the SANFL.In the 1950s the Norwood Football Club received permission from the then City of Kensington & Norwood to install six light towers at the oval. This allowed Norwood to host not only night football matches but also night baseball. Regular night SANFL night series matches were played at the oval until 1984 when all night games were transferred to the SANFL's own Football Park when construction of that grounds light towers was completed.

It's a great place to watch a game! The food is average at best. The new LED flood lights, whilst great for lighting the pitch, are so bright you need sunglasses at night!
Good stadium smashes Adelaide oval out of the park in terms of food and drinks. Seats are solid but not great. If you're heavy, they tend to dip forward
Great little stadium, fairly clean and new. Chairs were not bad, beer was pretty solid. Great venue to sit and watch a game whilst feeling a part of the action. The constant plan spotting was a little extra bonus too.
Outstanding atmosphere.. The seating layout makes you feel like your standing on the sidelines.. However there is no shelter for rain or the blistering sun unless your in the members stand.. Apart from that it's well worth the visit.
Won four free tickets from Adelaide United sponsors VALO led manufacturers per the photos. Saw them draw with Melbourne City after coming back from being 2-0 down. Nice stadium, good food truck outside and lots of bars to grab drinks. Obviously pricey…. Covid restrictions were a little excessive there were covid marshals everywhere - just waiting to pounce on you for expose your nose. The flood lights should be brighter but I think VALO has plans to fix up that particular issue!
Fantastic stadium. Outstanding atmosphere and close to the pitch.
Great vibes, beautiful view from the stands. Barely any wait times for snacks and drinks.
A great upgrade! Keep building up the stadium. A League keeps getting better and better. Everybody has gotta go
Good soccer stadium. You're 'on top' of the action. Good vibe too.
Not the nicest stadium you'll go to, but the atmosphere on game days is pretty good. The food is for the most part utter garbage and at $5 a cornetto they can cream off, but the beer is cheap enough so minimal complaints.
