This is a proper country pie shop and if you're in the market for a meat pie then you're going to be happy you came here. I came here twice in fact trying to get a custard tart but they were sold out both times, luckily the vanilla slice was well stocked which made up for my disappointment.nI'm a bit of an expert on vanilla slice, and this particular vanilla slice was perfect. Not too heavy on the cream in the custard and the vanilla was spot on. The pastry has that crunch you expect from top tier vanilla slices and not a hint of sogginess. The icing just thick enough with that consistency where it is almost chewy but not quite. I couldn't tell you the weight, but it is the right weight.nnOther things I tried were the jelly cakes, curry steak pie, steak and onion pie, sausage roll and the coffee.nnI'm also a bit of an expert in all of these and I can tell you I couldn't detect anything off at all with these. The curry pie is my go to pie and it almost seems that most bakers share the same recipe but this one had a different flavour and it was fantastic. A little heat, a little spice on the nose. Great stuff.nnJelly cakes bring back loads of memories for me and are a very nostalgic Australian bakery treat you so but always see. These ones are a very good size, deliciously whipped cream filling and a sweet jelly dipped sponge.nnI would 100% recommend.nnI had help eating all that btw I'm not an animal
The pies, pastries & service are point! nnWhat was not on point was:nnSomeone in the back trying to make me feel inferior cause my biceps are small; wasn’t cool at all, it made me really uncomfortable! nnWhat a mistake to come here in person!nnI asked my man to come here especially cause “we were in the area” & then this happened & really left a “bad taste in my mouth”nnI do not understand why someone working in a shop needs to make some random customer feel uncomfortable about their body; especially when they did not ask for your opinion nnHe was in the back; on the side, so no one could see him.nnClassic bully move nnThat was a upsetting experience to have in Horsham
We were on our way to Adelaide and decided to stop in Horsham for coffee & breakfast. We had stopped at another place for a coffee but there was nothing really appealing for the majority of the group for breakfast so we took our coffee and went for a walk to Conway's. Upon arrival most of the crew bought some hot food Pies and others to eat. The Meat Pie that my wife bought was tasty and full of meat. Crew were all happy with their meals. Stomach happy and we were on our way.
I ordered a vegetarian pasty and a super sausage roll. Let me tell you, there was nothing super about it. Not bad, but certainly not good. The pasty was ok; heavy on the egg filling but lacked spice and panache. The pastry itself was quite good.nnI also ordered an oat latte. Again, not bad but certainly not good.nnStaff were friendly and it looked a well oiled machine. I went here because of the 4.5 rating but didn’t hit the mark for me and that rating feels inflated.nn6/10 - would try somewhere else next time or try something else from the menu
Absolutely phenomenal steak and mushroom pie. Healthy amount of meat and an insanely flavourful gravy.nnWhilst the humble meat pie typically falls in the category of a utilitarian, ‘get-the-job-done’ lunch item, you can tell that Conway’s make their pies with a passion that elevates them above the mere travelling snack.nnIf you have any excuse to get a pie here, I highly recommend it.nnAverage/decent coffee , but the pie was truly the star of the show. Disappointed that I didn’t have time to try a cake as they also looked delicious. Will be back!
