My recent experience at this restaurant left me extremely disappointed. The menu advertised gluten-free options, which initially excited me. Upon inquiring, one cashier assured me they had a dedicated gluten-free fryer. However, when we placed our order and spoke to another cashier, we were informed that the gluten-free fryer was being used for non-gluten-free food that evening. This meant I couldn't enjoy the Salt & Pepper Squid and chips, which were marked as gluten-free on the menu.nnWhen we questioned why the advertised gluten-free option couldn't be provided, the chef responded defensively, stating that there's always a risk of contamination when dining out. I expressed my concern about food safety, but felt unwelcome and as if my concerns were dismissed.nnI doubt that they take proper precautions, such as draining contaminated oil, before using the fryer for gluten-free items again. This lack of care for cross-contamination is unacceptable, especially for someone like me who could face serious health consequences from consuming gluten.nnUnfortunately, this experience has made it clear that they do not have adequate procedures in place despite listing gluten-free options on their menu. It's not just about attracting customers; it's about ensuring their safety. We won't be returning.
The beer garden and function room looks brilliant. Unfortunately our meals weren't the best. My steak was half cooked and the mushroom sauce was watery with one cold mushroom in it, and the salad was swimming in dressing. The wife's fish wasn't great either. Chips were ok. Overall, great atmosphere, but need to do better with the meals.
I was recently stayed in Room 6 of this establishment. Bed bugs were in the single bed and the male communal shower was unable to produce more than a flimsy trickle. Otherwise, great location, pleasant staff and some colourful regulars to chat to.
I would like to thank Rachel and all her beautiful staff for the hospitality, delicious food and exceptional service.. i had my mums wake there with over 60 people in the function room and beer garden . Everyone commented how Rachel and her staff did such a wonderful job xx the food was delicious nothing was left over xx will be back on a happier times xx thank you so much Rachel
Meals aren't nice anymore, usually burnt and smaller portions now. Customer service isn't great, staff walk around with a annoyed look on their face. Plaster people who are noticeably drunk with more alcohol, let people get rowdy and out of control, there's having fun then there is taking it to far. Used to be great service and atmosphere but not so much anymore.
