Very good food and the special - steamed barramundi with soy and ginger sauce - was outstanding. The Saturday banquet had more than enough food for 2. Very attentive service. Definitely will come again.
My favourite Restaurant everrrrr I always love the food every time I dine in at Cochin I love every dishes so can't really pick one as a fave, and my dining experiences are always wonderful with the warm welcome from very lovely people. Highly highly recommended to dine at Cochin for your next event P/s: can't wait to come back again
First time back since pre Covid and it didn't disappoint. I can never go past the pork belly, it's some of the best I've ever had. Still! I shared that along with the seafood noodle stir fry. The flavours are just beyond, so tasty and fresh. Service is also still top notch, the guys are professional and helpful but also charming and funny. Could not recommend higher. I won't be leaving it so long to go back again! 10/10
I love this place. My boyfriend and I had our first date here and returned for our 1 year. The staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating and are able to recommend a good selection of dishes. Food and drink arrives quickly. The food is amazing and they have a great selection to suit all tastes.
Party of four and did we have the most beautiful drinks and dinner pre Ed Sheeran concert. Swan Street was buzzing and did we pick the right place. Food was absolutely beautiful so so yummy and the staff are brilliant, they go above and beyond to make sure all patrons are looked after perfectly. Thank you so much cannot wait to return.
Went for a 70th birthday on a Saturday night. We hadn't realised 6+ people are required to take the banquet option. However we were pleasantly surprised when management agreed we could go ala carte. Thanks Cochin for your friendly staff and a lovely night of enjoyable food.
DELIGHTFUL MODERN VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT ON SWAN STREET Caught up with a friend and we decided on a very early dinner at Cochin. We arrived at 5:30 and, unsurprisingly, were the first guests for the evening. The restaurant interior is modern, comfortable and spacious.. plenty of room between tables. It has a very well stocked bar as part of the restaurant shares the dining hall. Large windows onto Swan Street afford you a good opportunity to watch the Richmond world go by. Our waiter, Jason, turns out to be the owner as well, so we were in good hands. We interacted with two other staff during our dinner and they were all excellent - anticipating need, topping up drinks, explaining menu items... clearly the restaurant invests a lot of time in training : We left it to Jason to recommend a selection of dishes and we were not disappointed. Every dish was beautifully presented and explained. We were offered time between courses and were not at all rushed. The restaurant filled fairly quickly after about 6:30 but the noise level never became a problem. I had a fruity white wine and my companion had a wicked "Sally Saigon" cocktail. Food wise - we had a delightful combination of crispy prawns in a delicious savoury crumble, scallops, prawn coconut, a crunchy chicken salad and shaking beef with green beans and coconut rice. The dishes worked well together and each acknowledged its Vietnamese heritage with delicate aromas and flavours. We were fairly full after that but couldn't resist the "coconut cake special". We requested one between the two of us and the waiter very kindly came back with a larger serve and lots of strawberries see picture. Overall it was a really pleasant experience - service, ambiance, food and drink quality. Customers with mobility issued will be fine here as there are no stairs for the ground floor and it is readily accessible from trams on Swan Street. We'll definitely be back :
Lovely spot, and the food was good. Though for the price tag with the food I'm not sure I'd have said it was 5 star for that. Don't get me wrong though, very good food and a lovely ambience tooFood: 4/5
Interesting Vietnamese restaurant with a French influence. The place has a bush ambience in the trendy part of Swan street, Richmond. The dishes were tasty with a bit of kick. Desserts were French style with a twist. Service was friendly.
Because of a seriously excellent dining experience I had here a couple of months ago I made a group booking for my mother's 90th birthday family celebration. Now, I cannot compliment the staff and the restaurant enough. They made the whole event work beautifully. The Service ... the right degree of attention, friendliness, co-operation, flexibility and timeliness. The Food ... absolutely superb. Beautifully designed, prepared and presented. The Ambience ... Intimate, modern, comfortable, and space between the tables, with great light and shadow and colour. The entire group was impressed, and so pleased with the whole luncheon, and restaurant experience from very start, to the finish. And the guest of honour, my mother, was blown away with a wonderful celebration. I think Cochin deserves a chef's hat. Initial visit: Just got back from a most delightful dining experience at Cochin. I honestly did not know what to expect, but I have been making a habit of dining locally and Cochin was on my to do list. Well it was just wonderful. From our entry, seating, and an immediate question about what sort of water we would like, to the followup drinks service a tailored cocktail with umbrella, a glass of wine, and a dish of spiced sweet potato crisps and the response of "leave it to us" when we admitted to being too lazy/bemused by choice, to go though the menu in detail. While we waited for our first dish, we spent the time examining our surroundings, and our first impressions of a very nice place were reinforced. Warm dark and intimate walls and ceiling, generous space between the tables, lovely crisp white tablecloths, and simple yet harmonious table settings. It is somehow modern yet cosy and conducive to conversation. The noise baffling must be good because we had no trouble at all speaking and listening in low and conversation tones throughout our time there. A question about any food allergies, and then about 5-10 minutes later we began our culinary introduction to modern Vietnamese cuisine. - A classic chicken salad the best either of us had ever had - Humoungous prawns deep fried in a crispy green rice coating with pineapple mayonnaise yummo - Scallops baked in a coconut cream froth so tender - Prawns lightly poached in a coconut cream gravy perfectly cooked - A beautifully tender and dry spicy beef in a lettuce shell dish of the night - swoon worthy - Green beans with mushroom slivers tossed in a savoury marinade unable to stop eating them - Slightly sticky steamed rice - Steamed coconut cake with strawberries and lychees and vanilla coconut icecream a delicious coconutty variation on my grandmother's old fashioned golden syryp steamed puddings The service thoughout was excellent .. Interested and very attentive without being intrusive. The food was simply excellent. The decor and surroundings enhanced the evening. Our thanks to Jason, the owner and host for coordinating such a deeply pleasant experience, which we will definitely repeat.
