If you are unfortunate enough to be battling mental health issues, or are a relative of someone battling them etc, please avoid this place like the plague. Zero transparency, zero accountability, unethical, you name it, and it can be attached to City East. Made only worse by the fact they are tasked with providing support to some of the most vulnerable and at risk sections of the Perth community. Without doubt the WORST mental health service provider in the Perth sector, bar none. The chief psychiatrist of WA needs to investigate this place. Urgently.
City East itself is fine, but Dr Neate's blatant disrespect of mental health is a concern. He regularly interrupts when you speak and doesn't take proper notes or may even go so far as to threaten the Mental Health Act if you try to speak up about the way he makes you feel. He makes you look bad in his reports and disregards WHY you responded to certain stimuli. He has no regard that what he says might be triggering to patients suffering from PTSD/abuse Now, there ARE staff here who are genuinely interested in your mental health. As a government funded place, they do have limited resources, but if you ask, they can provide you with information and their services have improved over the past few years. Make sure to confirm your appointment at reception before you go. The other staff are a delight and I will gladly keep being treated here as long as Dr Neate is not involved in my treatment plan *Update* I had to find out 2 hours before my appointment that was written on the card thry gave me, by calling to confirm an appointment that the doctor I was seeng no longer works with the service, I had been discharged from their service on the day of my final appointment to organize a mental health care plan and my case manager Sonal did not even have the courtesy to notify me of this! I was not notified of ANY of these changes. I was just dropped from their service with no courtesy call or text. I wasted precious mental and physical energy to prepare for this appointment just to find out they dropped me from their service with no courtesy notification ALWAYS CALL TO CONFIRM APPOINTMENTS
I was assessed by Dr Chang who ended my session early maybe got a 20min session when it should of went for an hour. He tried to force medication onto me and kept cutting me off while I was trying to talk out my problems..it is a free service so I wouldn't avoid the place theirs no harm in hearing what they got to say or offer.
The Staff are grate but one doctor on the other hand shouldnt even contuine been a doctor at that place how ever in the past this place has given me wrong medication with Clozapine and never really checked the levels i had which resulted in me becoming Toxic in my body wasnt impressed at all. with Clozapine i would sleep daily.
Horrific! The psychiatrist decided to tell me that he is on the fence as to whether an unrelated medical condition that he wasn't and isn't treating me for and is not qualified to treat anyone for is an actual medical condition and that most of the medical field is unsure as well. All he showed was his lack of current education and lack of understanding and concern for a patient who is severely depressed. I notice that the service doesn't have a formal complaints procedure on it's website either.
Sounds like Dr Neals, is Dr Horribblis and should be committed to an asylum
The majority of staff be they medical, admin, support etc are both generally competent and caring. One issue however is confusion with appointment bookings, if a staff member uses their private diary for managing appointments I suggest reminding reception when the next appt is so that it can be logged into their computer system for SMS reminders etc.
Dr Neates job is easy he just asks questions and jots down the answers on paper then makes you look bad at tribunals rather then understanding you and finding out a way to help you...I would avoid seeing him. p.s AJ is hot.
after visiting this place i decided to go ahead with the suicide plan
