A really great modern library, right in the heart of Chermside. It has access to all sorts of facilities Including a children's section, reference books, meeting rooms, quiet spaces and even a cafe! Would highly recommend the second biggest library in Brisbane, with its accessibility and reading selection.
Disgusted by younger male librarian who thought it appropriate to jump in on my parenting. Whilst I was proactively getting my 2year old to use inside voices when he got excited, the librarian thought his own telling off might work which it didn't. I won't go into how inappropriate it is to give someone elses child an 'or else' response to noise, but he then progressed into telling us which area of the library is appropriate for raised voices to avoid it travelling through the rest of the library. So rather than my child exploring the LARGE CHILDRENS AREA, and computers, he would be forced into a corner with two chairs. I'm sure during construction of the area and, of course, all the first 5 forever activities held there and the exciting computer games on offer, they were not considering noise levels. So i question, why was my childs noise a nuisance? We left abruptly.
Modern, colourful and plenty to explore, inspiring to read and learn.
One of the best Brisbane City Council libraries! Great kids section and lots of reading tables, plus a coffee shop near the entrance. The librarians were very helpful and we really enjoyed their school holiday program!
Love this library its the sort of place you can just get away from everything and fall into book heaven also the Cafe is great plenty of seating nice food I always get apiece of velvet cake and coffee good people to make conversation as well highly recommend this place.
