Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Pharmacist Conduct and Medication DelaynnI am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the conduct of a pharmacist at Chemist Warehouse and the unnecessary delay in receiving my prescribed medication following my discharge from Box Hill Hospital.nnAfter being discharged, I attended Chemist Warehouse and presented the prescription provided by the hospital pharmacist. The pharmacist involved was a male of Indian appearance, medium to heavy build, working at the Chemist Warehouse store at the time of my visit. I did not obtain his name.nnUpon reviewing the document, he advised me that it was not sufficient and stated that I required a GP prescription. While it is true that the prescription did not clearly indicate repeats, he did not take reasonable steps to verify this further.nnInstead, I was directed away without any attempt to check the dispensing system or clarify the prescription details—something that was later done without issue when prompted by the Box Hill Hospital pharmacist.nnAs a result, I attempted to contact my GP and other clinics in Knox, only to find that all were fully booked, with no availability until Wednesday or Thursday. At that time, I had only enough antibiotics remaining for three days, despite being prescribed a full seven-day course, placing me at risk of interrupting essential treatment.nnDue to the urgency of my situation, I drove approximately 30 minutes back to Box Hill Hospital while still recovering. This caused significant inconvenience, including traffic delays, parking costs, and fuel expenses.nnUpon arrival, the hospital pharmacist reviewed my case and confirmed that the issue could have been resolved by checking the system. They contacted the Chemist Warehouse pharmacist, who was then able to locate and confirm the prescription details.nnI returned to Chemist Warehouse to collect my medication. However, the same pharmacist showed little recognition or concern regarding the situation. Rather than acknowledging the oversight, he attempted to justify his actions and suggested that the issue may have been due to my misunderstanding.nnI made it clear that this was not a misunderstanding. The issue arose because he did not take the necessary step of checking the system when I initially presented. I specifically questioned why this was not done earlier, given that it was done immediately once prompted by the hospital pharmacist.nnIt was only after this was pointed out that he offered an apology.nnThis experience is unacceptable. The failure to take reasonable steps to verify a prescription, combined with the lack of accountability and empathy, resulted in unnecessary stress, financial burden, and a potential risk to my health due to delayed access to essential antibiotics.nnI request that this matter be formally reviewed and that appropriate action be taken to ensure that proper procedures are followed and that patients are treated with due care and professionalism.
A huge thank you to the young, curly-haired team member with a tanned complexion! Even though the pickup system had issues today a 20-minute wait instead of 2 minutes, this staff member’s kindness saved the day. They saw me struggling with my 15kg toddler and proactively helped carry my diapers to the car.nnExcellent customer service! I highly recommend the staff here, but please look into the technical issues with the click-and-collect system.
One more than 1 occasion, have needed to fill certain scripts. Ask for 4, received everything in the scripts bundle.nnCan they not understand their own system, the marked scripts are the only ones I wanted.nnThe new bulk dispensing for some meds does not mean I need or want all of them at once. It is not cheaper doing it this way and makes budgeting harder.nnAs for the scripts I don't need or want right then. Have asked that the unwanted scripts be cleared from the system only to be told, later when I did need it, the script had been filled even though I asked for it to be removed and it showing as having been filled even though i did not take it at the time.
I had a great experience at Chemist Warehouse thanks to Sally. She was incredibly helpful, friendly, and took the time to make sure I found exactly what I needed. Her knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile really stood out. It’s not often you come across such genuine customer service—Sally is a real asset to the team!
