It is always a pleasure dealing with Checketts McKay Law in Cromwell.   Their professionalism is exceptional as is their knowledge of all things legal.   Not to mention, we are always greeted with a smile.

After instructing Allan McKay to gift my trust to my children in 20078 in the quickest way possible, I was advised it would take 3 years to complete.  Each year I received documentation, signed and returned to the office only to find out in 2018 the gifting was not completed, the lovely capable Caitlin instantly rectified this and completed gifting. Last month, due to me potentially understating my assets in 2015 I asked senior staff how this happened.  I was advised that gifting was put on hold by Checketts McKay in 2010 due to upcoming legislation changes to gifting rules, however I was not informed.  Apparently legislation changes were finalised soonafter, however gifting was never reinstated. I asked CM to put what they told me verbally in writing, I offered to sign a waiver of liability, I just wanted to show the 3rd party my intention to gift ASAP from 20078, as evidenced by automatic issue of the 2nd gifting documentation in 2009. Further evidence shown in emails with support staff acknowledging this error. A blanket refusal to provide this officially was awful, it put me under enormous stress, and the letter I received to on-forward completely omitted any knowledge of my intention which is documented at the time.  When I asked about this: "Allan has retired now and our records may or may not be in archive. I'm not sure we would want to put this in writing, it would need to go to the board*, then we would need to discuss and all agree. If approved then it would also be submitted to our insurers for signoff.." *board or partners After almost 20 years with this firm, transacting on S&P for my eldest daughter, and currently working with my dad, I am so disappointed and disheartened, I am writing this.
