Charcoal Chicken at Bolton Street

Received a recommendation that this shop was a hidden gem and the chips were next level.. Well.. Ordered a chicken wrap and chips. Chips were just ok. But the wrap! TERRIBLE! and got both ends of the tomato! Oh boy. What a shame.Food: 1/5

The food is OK. Nothing special. The owners work the young-ins off there feet. Time for a pay rise.

I went to pick up some lunch from Chicken on Charcoal. I ordered a large salad and a small lamb meat pack. Firstly, the service leaves a lot to be desired - rude and abrupt come to mind. Secondly, the price of the lamb meat pack was a shock after seeing the container. I have included a photo below to show how little you get for 18 dollars. This business wasn’t what it used to be and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Probably the best Charcoal Chicken in Melbourne. Huge variety of choice from Salads, to roasted veggies etc. Best Chips too. Not stingy with serving size. Unavoidable wait times because they are so busy.Food: 5/5

The best charcoal chicken EVER. Hands down. No doubt. Grab a salad while you're there and you will be in heaven. Also available on uber eats but was driving past - I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Reasonably priced for free range chicken and quality food. Around $12-$18 per person. I chose a half chicken pack that fed 2 people plus an extra chips for a third. Why are you still reading this? Go and order!

-HSP. Yuk! Very poor quality meat! -Chicken dry as a rubber boot! -Salads lack flavour. Only good thing at this place is the chips. Chips are always 10 out of 10. Everything else about the place. From service to food is just not good! Used to be excellent! Not any more.

The chicken was dry and almost inedible. The gravy had no flavour. The chips were pretty good but not amazing. Pretty disappointing all round.

Not sure what you guys did to the chips tonight but they were phenomenal. Super crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, hopefully you’ve done something new and wasn’t just luck? Have been a regular for years, rarely have a bad meal, thank you!

Looks like the new owners are trying to lose customers. Ordered and paid for a full tray of lamb, unfortunately they ran out. So they cut up less than half a chicken - overcooked it to beyond dry and tried to substitute it. The poor young staff were left to try make amends while new owner ducked away. No way I was going to upset the poor young kids so called when we got home. Owner extremely rude to boot. $24.50 for totally inedible food. Not returning. Ever.
