I don't understand some of the reviews here. This is a takeaway, hearty food place, owned by a lovely couple. This is not a 5* dine in restaurant, so some of the reviews here just do not make sense. If you are looking for excellent fish and chips, and Asian food, this is the place for you. The fish and chips are always cooked so well, and I love their vegetable spring rolls. A meal which makes you full for $7 and is delicious? This is the place.
Crispy chicken is A+! Great roasty flavour and very nice level of spice my new go too, so gooodddd
Just your average Chinese takeaway, with all the right menu items and good service.
If you have not tried Chan's number 4 chicken and chips 8 chick nibbles & chips 4 $6 you have not lived..I drive across town when I am in Auckland just to get them. Tasty, light and crunchy. Cheese & Pineapple burgers are like homemade kiwi burger and chips are always perfect. Everything is reasonably priced. My favourite fish and chip shop and the husband and wife owners are really lovely.
I dont usually write bad reviews but as the fish was very very thinned down sliced through the middle must be like 3 times, as a fisherman fish dont come that thin! I feel I should. The fish was also heavily battered and then sadly very over cooked which was disappointing. The chips were very good however. Finished off with a wrapping in news print which was cute.
Five stars all the way. Phone order, ready in 10 minutes for pick up. Fed three hungry teenage boys for $30 including deep fried donuts for dessert and enough chips left over for Mum and Dad to snack on. Friendly old school service and I believe they use fresh oil every day.
Chan does potato fritters the best. Perfect amount of potato and batter. Anytime I’m near I get an order of fritters and a scoop of fries. Well worth the $5.
The fish is pared down very skinny so it is all batter no fish and yesterday I got a sweet and sour pork with absolutely NO PORK! Even though I have been going there for twenty years no problem they refused to believe me, refused to make it right. They said I must have taken the fried pork out but it was obvious from the clarity of the sauce it had never existed. Disgraceful!
Worst takeaways I have ever had the displeasure of buying. Over cooked to a burnt brown colour, dry, nasty ... best place for it straight in the bin! Don't waste your money its inediable!
Good bang for buck with some great specials. It's obviously not going to be a gourmet 5 star experience so at these prices it's honestly hard to understand some previous review comments. Just a solid chippy with good burgers
