I had my Gastroscopy done here. From the receptionist, to the nurses, to the team in the operating room, everyone has been nice. Dr Knight was my doctor. Thank you.
**Serious damage caused to tooth - I would avoid these people** During May 2020 I attended Caulfield Endoscopy for a procedure. When I awoke from my procedure, I immediately noticed a lot of pain with one of my front bottom teeth. I immediately raised this with the staff and was told by the anaesthetist “well, all your teeth are quite wonky”, which, aside from being a little insulting and quite a bizarre comment from a professional, was not really relevant. He later mentioned that I’d said in the past that I have some ulcers in my mouth - another strange point to bring up in relation to a dislodged tooth? I continued to raise this issue for the duration of my time at the centre and was told by the anaesthetist, Stephen Pianko and the nurse that I must have bitten down too hard on the tube while I was under anaesthetic. I booked into the dentist immediately after the procedure and the dentist confirmed the tooth had received significant trauma which had caused it to be dislodged. The trauma also caused significant damaged to the nerve. The dentist put the tooth in a splint to try to save it. The splint was removed 2 weeks later with another visit to the dentist however there is some permanent nerve damage and it will be permanently dislodged. At best it will remain like this, at worst I am looking at root canal or it may need it to be removed and replaced. Currently, 2 months on, it still hurts and I cannot eat hard things like I used to such as an apple. Costs for this to date have been around $200 however the prospect of major dental could be in the thousands. I sent a couple of emails to Caulfield Endoscopy asking if anybody was aware of anything that may have caused the trauma and also noted my disappointment with the way the issue had been handled so far. I received a brief call from Stephen basically acknowledging I had noted some pain in my tooth and again suggested that I bit down too hard. I also received a call from the centre manager who: reminded me of all the paperwork I had signed about potential risks; told me that the anaesthetist is very professional and is a nice man; and questioned what my dentist had said as she had only head of 3 incidents like this at the centre over her 20 years with Caulfield Endoscopy. I asked her for a formal response by email which she eventually committed to, but despite many follow ups by email, she did not send. She closed out the call by saying she considered the matter closed. I cancelled my follow up appointment with Stephen by email and told them that I did not consider the matter closed. Aside from a missed call from Stephen at the time of the cancelled appointment, have not heard from them since. I am not unreasonable and understand that accidents can happen, but I find it hard to see how I could be solely responsible for this level of trauma to a tooth, particularly while under anaesthetic? GenerallyI found the staff at the place were grumpy and spiky with one another as well as with customers. Perhaps just a bad day for Caulfield Endoscopy? Either way I don't think it's worth taking the risk when your health is concerned, and based on my experience I would urge you to go somewhere else.
Everything went perfectly, with friendly nurses and staff. But they tried to charge me $130 for a 2 minutes phone talk with the doctor in order to give me the results of my laboratory-test. I already paid for the laboratory test, didn’t receive the results at home and force to speak and pay a doctor to know the results... unfair, dishonest, a trap.
Highly recommend Dr Virginia Knight. She is kind and compassionate but also very astute. She tested for diseases others didn't think to, and as a result a probable cause for my years of suffering was found and treated. Every time I've been she has been on time, she is what we wish every specialist to be.
Very nice and caring staff, thank you!
Another disorganised medical premises where doctors don’t mind keeping people waiting and their support staff struggle to work around this.
From the reception team to the nurses, anaesthetist and professor Pianko everyone is top notch. Helpful reassuring very professional and friendly
Professional and very friendly staff. Good experience start to finish.
god he got in there good
The entire team at Caulfield Endoscopy was incredible. I went in for a colonoscopy, gastroscopy + iron infusion and I was pretty nervous, but I needn't have been. Dr Raphael Luber is one of the kindest medical professionals I've ever dealt with, and made me feel so at ease. The reception staff, nurses and anaesthetists were so lovely and helpful, too, and my procedure went smoothly. I'm so grateful, thank you so much.
