It is a tranquil spot with a view on to the harbour and if you time it right on a Sunday afternoon a cruise ship will pass by. Outside and inside seating. Child friendly. I haven't seen many dogs but I'm sure outside is fine. The selection of wines, beers and other refreshments is impressive and complements the fresh food offered on the menu.

Really lovely staff. Great location. Lots of parking available out the front. The chairs outdoors even came with blankets to keep the cool air off. Great menu, predominantly made up of local seafood options. In addition to having beer, wine and general alcohol options they also serve tea and coffee. They have soy milk too:) would definitely recommend. It's not very cheap (c. $18-45 for a main meal) but the meals are very well done, so it's less of a rough pub place and more of a nice place to dine. Having said that dress attire is very mixed. Cyclists and hikers and formal diners all eat here.

Great seafood! And certainly value for money. Staff are also friendly and helpful. We will keep coming back like we have been for the last 6 years since we discovered this little gem.

We stopped for lunch at Careys Bay Historic Hotel on the way to Aramoana. The service was relaxed and friendly. The hotel has indoor/outdoor seating with a great view of the bay. We ate simply, but looking over the menu didn't feel as though anything was lacking if we had wanted something more sophisticated.

Went for for Valentine's day. They had a 5 course set menu. It was amazing. Such a fabulous meal. The flavours of the dishes were so good. The salmon and scallops 2nd course was a real highlight. Great service.
