Where do I start...the food was nice, certainly not outstanding. Some of the food was not good - the filo meat cigars had raw pastry on the inside and the chicken wings were just cooked, tough & unpleasant. The service was lukewarm and abrupt. On the website, they mention a mid-week banquet but fail to mention that you cannot order from the menu if you don't want the banquet...so we were stuck having the banquet. Again, on their website, the banquet lists delicious-sounding, exciting dishes. Most of these were not on offer, instead we got standard middle-Eastern/Greek food. Finally not really a problem for us the website says "all you can eat" regarding the banquet, yet the waitress was very quick to note that we would get small tastes of 9 dishes - it was enough for us but if you are hoping to feast, you might be disappointed. Cafe Zum Zum, fix your website so that it is accurate & I would suggest, go with the dishes you advertise as they sound much better than the ones we had. I have eaten at Zum Zum many times over the years & I have always enjoyed your Moroccan-inspired food...this time, I am not keen to return.
Have been a number of times and the banquet has never failed to deliver on great quality homestyle food. Some of the best hummus and babaganoush I've ever tasted. The medium and larger plates change regularly and are always fantastic.
Great food from a variety of middle-eastern cuisines. Good selection of small dishes for sharing or larger mains. Also a good banquet option if you want to try a bit of everything you'd better be hungry though cause it's massive. Recommended.
I recently had an uncomfortable and rude experience at east imperial. I had booked my fathers day lunch at east imperial and upon booking asked for a high chair. At no point was i advised that this placed is not baby friendly. During the course of our lunch the host, obnoxious and rude, asked us to watch our baby's mess. I can understand if they had advised us this prior to booking, but to approach us whilst we are eating...HOW RUDE!!!!! My son was not running around or screaming he was eating and spilling some of his food, as children do. The mess was also contained to the area under his chair and our table and as he was not walking around the restaurant this is the only place it was. The room was not carpeted it was floor boards, so very simple to sweep up. I chose East Imperial due to the reviews i read and I have to say, it is completely over rated. I have had equally good food at the Shark Finn and other local yum cha's with a much better atmosphere!! We also waited for 30mins before they even commenced the meals, 15minutes for each drink and waited about 20mins between each sitting of food. Having made us feel so bad we had to get down on the floor and clean the mess which was so minimal that our son made with a serviette. If a venue is not child friendly i understand, however it is important to be advised of this from the onset. To approach people during their meal is inexcusable, we felt horrible and had to pay for it. As i said, my child was not screaming, running around or anything, i could understand being pulled up for that. I will never go back to the East Imperial and with a Host so rude, I would never recommend anyone else do either. Overall, if the food quality, the timeliness of the food and drinks and the price were good i would have gotten over their rudeness, however this was not the case. This place is ordinary in many ways to say the least!!!!!
Beautiful home cooked Lebanese food. Treat yourself to the very reasonably priced set menu for only $30. There was so much food my friend and I could not finish ! I'll be back. Thankyou guys.
Really love this place. Extremely tasty good in an interesting neighbourhood. Good menu options. Definitely worth trying the desserts. Highly recommended.
A nice restaurant but running out of items on the menu or wine list by 8pm on a Friday night is very ordinary.
Delicious food, good vibes and lovely friendly staff Will be going there again to try more of their selection!
Absolutely delicious food in a lovely setting. Deserves to be busier than it was on a Tuesday night.
Bedouin Chicken and Turkish Delight was good. It closed in October 2018
