Quite of interesting cocktails menu could be find here. Interesting thing is that works until late, staff is very kind and friendly. The food is a bit average, but the salads are impressive here too. Great location that makes it very convenient and busy place. Well done!Food: 3/5

Great homemade pasta and tasty food. We walked past so many times but finally stopped by today. Service was fine, food came quickly. It just has a bit of an oldish vibe overall.Food: 5/5

Such a beautiful place. Staff were wonderful, so so freindly and helpful. I ordered a Thai beef salad which was absolutely amazing and the waiter made sure I was ok regularly but not intrusivly perfect balance of tending to my needs but also leaving me to have peace The prices are very reasonable with quality at every aspect of a dining experience I will be back here every single day well when money permits lol Live you cage republic keep up the fantastic work

A lovely experience. The owners been through hard times and I can happily say this place has bounced back and is back on the rise! A lovely lighter roast for your coffee, and a bit of a sweeter matcha if you're not a big fan of the more bitter flavours. Ordered the Porterhouse Sandwich minus the avocado - very tender and tasty, would recommend adding a side of Sriracha aioli. Also ordered the Linguini Marinara, a little bit too salty but otherwise cooked well. Always recommend

Josh - Finally stopped for a coffee in Melbourne, and this cafe’s coffee is top notch. With two different options depending on whether it’s milk based or not. I normally drink a long black but the espresso blend sounded too good to miss, the lovey man talked me into a long mac instead of a short mac and it was delicious with the hints of dried fruits through the coffee. Also got some chips the eat whilst we sit and enjoy the afternoon which were also very very good. Bella - Was walking around South Yarra and decided I wanted to stop for a drink and stumbled upon this cute cafe. I ordered the dragonfruit daiquiri and it was delicious. The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Would definitely come back again! Josh & Bella - Although we drove this time, with the location of this cafe being just down from the south Yarra station you’ll be sure to see us again on our next day out to Melbourne for the friendly staff who made us feel welcomed and were very helpful in giving recommendations. Love the work, keep it up guys and good luck for the Xmas period and rest of summer!!!

Had a very pleasant night here. Unfortunately my Porterhouse steak was a little tough and lacked flavour medium rare but everything else on the plate was great. My wife had the Nicoise salad which she loved, and the Thai Beef salad was also pretty good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. One of my fellow diners had a chicken risotto with a pesto of some sort and he was very happy.

My partner and I stopped for some lunch and honestly left feeling pretty upset. We ordered a pizza, sandwich and soft drinks and the couple next to us ordered a burger and sandwich at the same time, but only ours never came out. As the couple next to ours finished eating I realised how long we have been waiting around 45 minutes and I attempted to wave and catch the staffs attention, unfortunately they didn't not come over. We noticed they finally had a pizza and sandwich only to bring it over to another table for them to instantly notice it was the wrong one and bring it back to the kitchen, we then decided to wait 5 min as they most likely made a mistake. As it came around the 50 min mark we weren't going to wait any longer as we had to leave. I went to the counter and let them know we have to go in which they said the food is ready now and we can just take away the food. My partner being non confrontational and both of us just plain starving said okay, and paid for the meal which included the drinks that I didn't even touch as I wait to drink with my meal. I was more inclined to just pay for the soda my partner consumed and that's all. We left feeling that the staff had no empathy or understanding. A simple "hey guys we're running a bit late today" or "we're new" or "we're understaffed" or "we accidentally messed up is this okay" would have been amazing, because I've worked in retail and hospitality for 10+ years and truly understand the struggle, but being sat down for so long only to have to pay $50 for takeaway for now a cold pizza and sandwich without being updated or even acknowledged was not a great experience. I hope you can take this and pass it on so others can have a better experience than our one.

One of our faves in South Yarra. This is such a great spot. Staff are super friendly, they have a fab happy hour, their food and desserts are delicious. Love, love, love it here!

Decent food but awful service. A team of teenage kids as floor staff struggled to keep up, one of which was no older than 13. Coffee order was taken promptly but then waited 25 mins for them to arrive, during which time the incorrect order was brought to the table three times. One coffee order also never showed. I’ll be going to Darling Cafe across the street until Cafe Republic’s service improves greatly.

The service is appalling! It was a nice night so I decided to sit outside. Restaurant wasn’t even half full and it took staff 30 mins to serve me and ask if I wanted to order a drink or meal. During my waiting time, the waitresses served a number of new customers that arrived after me. Despite their external advertising on their building stating that they have Happy Hour drinks between 5pm to 7pm on a Monday to Friday, I was told that this wasn’t the case and they only have a weekly cocktail special. It took another 25 minutes for a cocktail to arrive and the food took 15 mins. Disappointing, the food arrived without the condiments mentioned on their menu and it took them another 10 minutes to provide them. By then my meal was stone cold.
