Some staff were excellent — attentive, professional, and caring. However, the organisation and standard of care before and after my surgery were disappointing.nnI also ended up on a mixed ward following my surgery with nurses who didn’t appear to know what they were doing.nnAt check-in, I wasn’t provided with a menu, which left me without dinner. I informed several staff members, and each time I was told it would be sorted on the ward — but it never was. After fasting all day for a complex surgery, I had to ask five times before receiving dinner, which finally arrived at 9:30 p.m. and was a soggy sandwich.nnI also needed an extra pillow to elevate my leg properly for support, but was told none were available because the ward was full. This was frustrating, as a nurse had already taken a spare pillow from my cupboard just hours earlier and didn’t ask if I required it. My leg was also not positioned/ supported correctly on the post-surgical support cushion, which is important for recovery. The physio was even surprised the following day when she came to see me.nnWhen I asked for a coffee, the nurse said she couldn’t make one because she was too busy. I understand the workload can be heavy, but it left me unsure who else to ask.nnSome older staff were blunt and rude at times, not introducing themselves, coming in with medications, and not explaining what was happening. This made me feel anxious and unsupported.nnWhile individual staff were very kind and helpful, the overall organisation, communication, and post-operative care could be improved and perhaps some friendlier staff on the front desk.
As a patient in rehab from a knee replacement I found the nursing staff to be attentive and caring. I do especially want to make special mention to Ester one to the nurses on night duty. Ester could not have been more helpful and caring especially when experiencing a challenging night with leg cramps and pain.nIt was disappointing however when attending physio sessions with my appointed physio as every time it was scheduled she could not complete the session due to having other appointments also scheduled. Also in the group physio session the 2 physios once telling us what we had to do then completely ignored what we were doing by engaging in personal conversation. I felt there was no care given or shown to ensure we were completing the exercise correctly to ensure our recovery.nWhilst hospitals are not renowned for their food all that can be said is there is a vast improvement that needs to occur or further training and thought given to this area. When serving a deep fried prawn salad - please serve the HOT prawns separately to the COLD salad items so the dish does not arrive under the food dome as steamed limp salad that was inedible.
I've recently had procedures at Cabrini Brighton as well as at another private hospital. Cabrini staff were amazing and should be commended. They worked hard to fulfil their ethos of care and compassion.
My husband spent 1 night in the hospital. All staff were attentive and caring. ALL nurses were exceptional especially Josie and Nigel. But everyone from the front desk to the Surgeon Dr Webb. cared and were attentive.
Great experience at Cabrini Brighton!! Thank you Nurse Soo Kim and Dr David Gibson. Such lovely and accommodating staff. Nurse Soo Kim calmed my nerves and made the process super smooth with a smile on her face
