While not exactly a scientific botanical garden and more of a recreation area in the heart of the city, this is a great place to relax and enjoy some remarkable ancient trees. Keep an eye open for the fruit bats in the evening. I visited several times. There is a market on Sundays, I had several hours in Christmas day wandering and watching. The cafe at the river point is good for breakfast or brunch.
This is a beautiful spot to get you started exploring the city! It's surrounded by the winding river ad is filled with beautiful blooming trees and shrubs. There's even a place for the kids to play. Walking, biking or just relaxing...this is the place to do it all in a historic setting!
So beautiful! You can really see how much effort was put into building up and maintaining this absolutely stunning botanical garden. Free entry and free public toilets on top! Great possibility to walk along the river and still enjoy the views from the garden. Highly recommend!!
The City Botanic Gardens is an absolute gem in the heart of Brisbane, offering a clean and beautifully maintained green space perfect for relaxation and exploration. Situated along the river, the gardens boast stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The variety of flowers and plants is impressive, creating a vibrant and colourful environment ideal for a quiet stroll or a picnic. Families will love the well-equipped playground, which keeps children entertained while parents soak up the serene surroundings.nnThe Sunday Markets add another layer of charm, offering a delightful mix of local goods and fresh produce. Best of all, entry to this lush oasis is completely free, making it accessible to everyone. With events often held inside and the Riverstage concert venue tucked away near QUT University, there’s always something happening to enjoy. Whether you’re looking to unwind, explore, or experience a lively event, the City Botanic Gardens has it all. Highly recommend a visit!
One of two beautiful botanic gardens in Brisbane city. An abundance of beautiful plants and trees that litter the landscape.nnThere are some interesting tree species from other countries, in particular the Sausage Tree from Africa, amongst several others.nnGreat area for bird watching as there are several bird species that frequent the gardens.nnYou can also catch Eastern Water Dragons by the fountain sunbathing as well.
