Took a look at an engine issue at short notice, and quickly diagnosed and resolved the problem for a fair price. Great service all round.
Went for MOT. They had to change two tyres and do a wheel balance. After this the car was vibrating whenever I went above 60mph. In essence I got the MOT and an issue I didn't have before. They are relatively cheap, but they're not good. There is a sense of lack of effort and competence about the place. You have to explain things more than once and even then they'll get it wrong.
Been going here for about 8 years. Reliable. Super service. Reasonable prices and trustworthy mechanics. Live on the opposite side of town and still make the journey here. Highly recommended!
They must be good only for routine MOTs where nothing is wrong. If you have an issue, they are bad at diagnosing. They'll either try something wrong, or just not fix it. Had my car in for an MOT and fixing steering vibration issue and they could not fix it. Plus, they get details wrong very frequently, namely name and address. And they keep phoning you throughout the day with questions a good garage does a precise diagnostic and then call you with everything you need to know to proceed or not. Also, when leaving car in, I was told off for not parking it somewhere down the street, as now the reception person was "just gonna have to move it now". I was under the impression that that was a part of their job. I couldn't know they like clients to park down the street and leave the keys. Just a bad experience.
I have been using Brakesafe for a number of years and I would and do! recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and knowledgable garage. Friendly and very accommodating, with an excellent standard of work, I trust the team to work on all aspects of my two classic cars. Routine Servicing, MOTs and age related repairs to suspension, braking, cooling and air conditioning systems have all been carried out superbly. It’s so refreshing to deal with such a professional and conscientious business.
Disappointed because I asked for a car service, and they decided to add things to the job because "it's good to do periodically", and make me pay for it as extra. If I don't ask for something, I shouldn't get it, and much less pay for it. Also, tgey gave me a price over the phone, which I didn't realise was without VAT. It's a pretty shady way of making it look like you're getting a fair price. This is the UK, not the US. Here, all businesses give prices with VAT. Definitely not taking my car there again.
