Lakeview Café is a Great Local Café with a beautiful relaxed atmosphere.nA lovely spot to stop for a coffee or a bite!nnIt’s a great location - picturesque lakeside, offering awesome views - making it a perfect place to unwind while enjoying the surroundings.nnThey make great coffee, with good options of quick snacks or a proper meal.nThe service is very friendly and heartily attentive, which really adds to the overall experience.nnA great little café in Colac that’s definitely worth visiting if you’re in the area.
We came to Lakeview Cafe Colac for some lunch on a Sunday as we had just arrived to stay nearby. Walking through to the cafe, we thought the view was quite nice, but that's about where our enjoyment had ended unfortunately.nnOnce we decided on food, we went up to order and we had to wait a while to be served. After our order was taken, we got our drinks and took our time drinking them, but finished them before the food came out. We ordered a chicken wrap, fish and chips and kids chicken nuggets and chips. The wrap was ok though nothing special. The remaining food was average at best. The fish was overcooked. Despite the Sunday surcharge, for the prices, I was hoping for better.nnIt was quite a warm day and our daughter wanted a juice. So we went inside again to order, and it had taken 15mins to be served. It was a bit busier then, but still took a while. Finally when going to pay, I was in disbelief when the lady said over $8 for the juice. I'd be ok to pay that much for freshly made juice, but this was bottled.nnDeciding to see if ordering dessert would be any better, the wait to order was still long, despite the line short. The housemade scone we ordered, whilst a good size for the cost, was also nothing special.nnOverall, the experience, the food and the cost was fairly disappointing. In my view, what you are paying for is the view.
Amazing food to go with a great location!nnI got the Gardeners Breaky - toasted bread with eggs, spinach, tomato and a hash brown was immaculate!nnAnd while ordering I had absolutely no trouble getting the original bread grain bread substituted with one that I liked Turkish breadnnHot chocolate was great too!nnGreat staff and I cannot wait to go here again when I’m in Colac next.
They charge a 12% Saturday surcharge on already overpriced food, and this is not displayed on the menu, they excused it was old menu! customers are not properly informed before ordering. They also charge an extra cup fee for takeaway coffee, seriously???which makes it feel like they are even make 100% profit from a paper cup.nnThe chicken wrap was cold and sour very poor quality and absolutely not worth the price.nnWhat concerned me most was the hygiene. When I asked for my food to be packed for takeaway, the waitress used the same bare hands that had just handled cash to put the food into the takeaway box. That is hardly an acceptable standard of food hygiene. Council will be informed!nnOverall, overpriced, poor quality, and questionable hygiene. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone stopping in Colac. They pushed away the customers who want to support small business!
We solely went here for the views and good coffee, which didn’t disappoint. However their brekky was under average except for almond croissants heated slightly was the star of the show. Really peaceful. Only thing bugged us were flies all over our food kept lingering since we were sitting outside.
