Our weekend away in Colac, we decided to go out for dinner for one night. Looking for places, we chose here because of the reviews. The name didn’t roll of the tongue but the venue was lovely. The staff were kind with smiling faces. The highlight was the food. Not one dish could have been criticized. Really surprised by the fact such authentic and delicious Turkish food was served in a country town. We knew we were in for a treat when the kids meals came out. The portion size was ample but this didn’t affect the taste. Would highly reccomended stopping off here for a meal if you’re in the area.
This was a really good meal and ambiance. We ordered the steak sandwich, calamari salad and rocket salad. All superb. The only reason I gave 4 stars for service instead of 5 was because once the meals were served no one came over after 5 minutes to check our meals were all ok. I sort of expect that at a restaurant that is definitely upmarket. Subsequently one of my group waited until the staff were clearing away the plates to ask for some tomato sauce to go with their fries.
This place really knows how to use herbs and spices. Each of our dishes were beautifully balanced. Everyone walked away saying they loved the tastiness of their meal. Most of us got the burger or steak sandwich, simple meals but the spices elevated them. The place was clean, and tidy, with a very elegant atmosphere. It was warm and inviting and you could chat and hear each other without an issue.
We visited Babil for a family lunch on Mother’s Day and we could not be happier. The food was absolutely delicious. Abir, our chef, prepared special sautéed king prawns for mum as her favourite. We had the Trio of dips, Manti, Calamari, Salmon, Mix Grilled Platter and Lamb Shank. We enjoyed every bit of it. Abir, along with the owner and the rest of their team, made sure we were looked after from the start till the end. Overall, we spent a lovely afternoon, tasting the warmth and love of Turkish cuisine. Highly recommend this place.
I’ve found the best place for coffee in Colac! Babil coffee house located at the western end of Murray street. A unique set up adds to the charm. Great coffee and service.
