The Turkish bread with 3 dips is a must to try. Their steak really taste good but the sauce from their slow cooked ribs needs improvement. Serving wise, the food served for main meal can be shared with 2 people who has less appetite otherwise, it is good for one person. There is parking available beside the restaurant. I would definitely come and order the Macha chai again.
Extremely disgusting and disturbing experience!nnI was with my friend on 11 Dec 25 at around 12:40 pm when we stopped at this restaurant in Colac. My friend had previously visited in 2023 and highly recommended their potato wedges, so we were looking forward to trying them.nnWhen he received the wedges, he noticed the sour cream and sweet chilli sauce portions were only half filled. My friend politely asked if a little more sauce could be added. The staff member at the counter appeared visibly annoyed and did not respond verbally. After returning from the kitchen, her demeanour changed abruptly and felt unsettling. It feels like something was off.nnThe wedges themselves did not taste right compared to what my friend remembered from before.nnThe most shocking part happened shortly after. While we were eating, my friend bit into something hard. When we stopped and checked, it turned out to be a piece of CHEWING GUM inside the sour cream! This was extremely distressing to witness and completely unacceptable from a food safety standpoint. Until today, the owner did not reach out to us regarding this matter. We are still unsure if this is a racial attack on us Asians, as we are a minority in this small town. Could things change if we are local Caucasians?nnThis experience made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Regardless of what caused this incident, there is absolutely no excuse for such a serious hygiene breach. It raises major concerns about food handling practices at this establishment. If the request is too much, a simple “no you can’t” would suffice, right?nnI sincerely hope the owner investigates this matter thoroughly. NO customer should ever have to experience something like this. Terrible.
Food portions were really large & delicious, and the staff extremely kind and helpful. Also, we loved that the owner was Turkish himself, which promised real authenticity, we were thrilled to have found this place. :
Traumatic, disgusting, and deeply disappointing experience.nnI first visited this restaurant in 2023 while travelling along the Great Ocean Road. Back then, I genuinely thought they had the best potato wedges I had tried in Australia.nnToday at around 12:40 pm, I returned after searching for the place in Colac for a while and was excited to try the wedges again. Unfortunately, the experience was completely different.nnWhen I received my takeout order, the sour cream and sweet chilli sauce containers were only half filled. I politely asked the female staff member at the counter if I could have a little more. She responded with a visibly irritated expression, said nothing, and went into the kitchen. I apologised for any inconvenience and thanked her. When she came back, her attitude was strangely different. Suddenly overly cheerful, saying, “There you go!” in a way that felt unusual.nnThe wedges themselves also tasted off, as if the supplier or recipe had changed.nnWhile eating on the road, I bit into something unexpectedly hard. Thinking it was an overcooked end piece, I spit it out. To my shock, it was a piece of chewing gum. This was absolutely horrifying and completely unacceptable. Given the sudden attitude change after my request, this felt intentional, which makes the situation even more disturbing.nnI don’t know whether this happened because I made a simple request, or whether it was because I am Asian. I honestly hope it was not racial, but I cannot ignore how uncomfortable and targeted the interaction felt. If a request isn’t possible, a simple “sorry, we can’t” would have been enough.nnI have travelled throughout Australia for years and have never experienced anything like this. I never expected to encounter something so unsafe and disrespectful, especially in a small town.nnI strongly urge the owner to contact me and take this matter seriously. This is a major hygiene breach and potentially a criminal offence. No customer should ever have to fear something like this happening with their food.
Jen the manager is absolutely lovely and extremely accommodating. I’m allergic to dairy and she and the kitchen crew were so accommodating in taking that on board. The food was absolutely delicious great steak and fish- would definitely reccomend - from a. Foodie! The desserts looked spectacular
