Sonia and the team did an amazing job on a very busy day to make sure a boat was available for us. The team was helpful and friendly, and got us out of trouble when I accidentally hit the kill switch and couldn't start the motor while down the Yarra :) I think if it is your first time, the onus is on you to check the rules and ask the questions, like some of these comments have alluded too. But the boats are easy to use, and something fun to do for all ages. Highly recommend, and will be doing again soon! Thanks team

Absolutely shocking service! Would not recommend anyone to use them. I wanted to book the boat for NYE - to take around for the fireworks. After initially being told that this was possible and quoted a price I was asked to come to their shop in Docklands. Visited the shop and after looking at boats, informed that the boat that was quoted is NOT allowed to be taken out after sunset. Recommended another boat and after discussions, Christina - agrees to allow the boat to be hired (after hours etc). Pay deposit and head home after nearly 2 hours sorting this booking out. Get called once I am home to be informed that the boat is now SUDDENLY unavailable for use. No concerns about the time wasted, money spent to pay deposit and to visit their shop at Docklands and dismissive about the entire episode despite ruining my NYE plans! Disgusting. To quote Christina, "we have been here for 9 years, trust me". "Sure" is all I have to say

Unfortunately I had a bad experience with this company, definitely don’t recommend. We did not receive enough information about the map and route, also no care about costumer health and safety. On the way there are some bridges , they didn’t emphasis enough on the height of the boat and the lanes which the boat can pass under each bridge . we took the wrong lane with low height and boat’s top hit the bridge . This was a hazard which we should have been warned prior . we had children in the boat and they scared a lot , that was definitely against our health and safety. They took the complete bond. Very unpleasant experience. :( .ANSWER TO OWNER : Just to clarify here, we heard from your colleague that similar accidents happened in the past , so we were not the first person.

Had a great day out fishing! Very helpful lady when booking over the phone and loved the walk on walk off service. Very convenient. The gents who met us at the dock were friendly and talked us through the boat, emergency kit (maps, flares, bailing bucket, oars...) and advised areas to avoid when exiting Vic honour near the Bolte bridge, may explain the new prop. Only suggestion to improve, consider changing the passenger seat for more comfort. All good on return. Overall very happy and would use again.

To anyone thinking about hiring a boat from this company (Boat 4 Hire) either with or without a voucher I urge you to seriously think about doing so. We hired at boat from this company and upon doing so, we were provided with no rules, maps & or regulations by any of the staff and were just given a yellow bag which contained some flares. My friend and I were wanting to do some recreational fishing and we both do not own a boat or hold a boating licence. Whilst we were out on the underneath the West Gate bridge we encountered the Marine Victoria police who had advised us that we were illegally in the fishing channel. The police officers asked if we had any maps or emergency equipment, we handed the yellow bag that was provided by (Boat 4 Hire) and the police could not believe we were not provided with any maps, rules or regulations. As a result we were issued with an infringement notice for approx $300.00 for illegally being in the channel and creating a dangerous situation. The police officers recommended we pass this onto the company (Boat 4 Hire) in order to provide them with feedback and to also attend to the infringement notice. Upon arriving back to (Boat 4 Hire) we advised the staff member of what had occurred and he stated to pass the fine onto his manager who will attend to it. Upon doing so, the manager did not wish to take any responsibility for the lack of information, rules & maps provided by his staff and completely refused to take any ownership of the matter and or the infringement notice !! Need I say any more, my friend and I were placed in a life threatening situation at no responsibility was taken by the company (Boat 4 Hire). Upon speaking to the police officers who did explain some of the boating rules & regulations, if you do have in mind to do some recreational fishing and wish to hire a boat do not even bother because you need to stay the right of the pole markers in the bay which are situated approx 10 - 15 meters from the land anything other than this then you are in the channel. Therefore you are better of doing land based fishing than wasting your time and money - "Never again" Visited December 2015
