Story

Black & White Coffee is all about a unique Coffee Experience. We exist to pay tribute to the incredible history of the "coffee shop" and live for the art and the culture of coffee.

It is very simple: Character, Coffee and People.

Below is a brief on our two 'models', The Coffee Cartel and The Coffee House. Both must be experienced to be believed =-).

COFFEE CARTEL

A large character space, tailor made for The Boss that owns it. It is here where you will find on site micro roasting, alternate brew coffee, extended food offerings, retail coffee and more. The more being a large and unique personality.

Ideal for groups, catching up with an old mate, stopping in for a takeout….. just make it your home while you are not at home.

COFFEE HOUSE

Smaller spaces filled with character. A long time ago, before the Café came to be, coffee was served in Coffee Houses. Small spaces designed and ran by eccentric characters. This is exactly what our coffee houses are.

Ideal for intimate catch ups, stopping in for a bite to eat and a coffee, swinging in to grab a take out, talking to your barista about general life; good or bad.

great food, fantastic atmosphere , lovely art, friendly staff, I hear good coffee but the hot chocolate was to die for. Pricing was very reasonable if not cheap. Back for my second day of lunch in a row. cosy and comfortable. Just needs a touch of american service - like would you like another coffee or something else to eat , have to stop in the middle of my meeting and go up to the counter and order so very New Zealand that !.

A great place to visit if you like your coffee roasted in small batches in front of you. The staff know their stuff too. A smallish selection of really good food is also available. Stay off the comfy couch by the roaster — that's reserved for me.

Of the casual lunchtime restaurants we visited on our trip this was the best in terms of the menu on offer and the friendliness of the service. We all enjoyed the food we chose and would like to see them set up in the UK.

It was first official meal after I move into Christchurch! It was so nice warm weather, and had amazingly well toasted bagel with fresh salmon. Salad on side was not really fresh but creamy cheese was so good. Coffee? No need to mention. Simply best place for brunch!

Sunny outlook to small grassy park. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The coffee was excellent! Morning coffee was a Cap, good fravor and temperature, good foam. Followed up with a “cartel boss” house blend short black. A light to mid roast from the medium acidity and berry flavours, superb soft fruit and sweetness supported by a distinctive cocoa and nutty base. In a word, superb *****
