This place is disgusting do not stay here. believe the negative reviews we booked for one night and didn’t last 4 hours as there was no water in the entire building including the toilets. the man at the desk was telling people to go across to the petrol stations, the park or even the pool to have a shower because and i quote “the pool is clean enough”. i understand that they can’t help these issues but to not notify guests or even offer compensation makes the situation more frustrating for two young female backpackers. additionally the rooms are disgusting the pillows and mattress are all stained in god knows what and the beds are old and unstable with no support bars on top bunk. Everything is old and falling apart don’t waste your travelling money on this place!
I usually like to leave a review when I visit places, and I considered not writing this one — but it’s important that others know so they can avoid this place. My roommate attacked me when I came into the room around 2am. She was extremely aggressive and racist, saying this was her country and that I should “be more careful” because she wasn’t afraid.nnI went to reception for help. One staff member, a young bald man dressed with hippie-style decorations, was completely unhelpful and dismissive — he basically said, “Well, these things happen in a shared room.” The other gentleman, however, was genuinely kind, attentive, and supportive — the only one who treated me well.nnThe hostel itself is extremely dirty and poorly maintained. The kitchen was disgusting, everything was filthy, and the overall quality is terrible. My roommate seemed to live there permanently in a miserable lifestyle.nnI left after only one night and happily returned to Hostel G, where I had an amazing experience. I would never recommend this place to anyone
This place needs a deep clean, kitchen floor is filthy, difficult to adhere to the wash your dishes rule if there are no clean tea towels and the draining board for the dishes is dirty. Lots of stuff left in room and bathroom from previous guests, does the cleaner think that a current guest actually owns the rusty razor in the shower? I saw cleaners but they're not cleaning where it matters i.e bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen. Also one light switch beside the bedroom door isn't great, balcony door didn't close properly, carpet old and stained, rubbish under the bed. On the plus side, I saw lots of Perth because I couldn't bare to hang around in the hostel for too long.
Well, my humble opinion being a traveler and staying in different backpackers hostels, I can say rooms are missing a lot of maintenance at general, doesn’t looks nice at all at the first impression…nMaking your own bed??? No aircon in the rooms.nCommon areas are all fine, rooms and toilets are kinda depressing…nIf You’re a bit more picky, this is not your place to stay…
In 30/Oct/2025, an incident happened at the check in process in Billabong Backpackers hostel that a AUD30 deposit is compulsory and most of the hotel/hostel in other countries will hold the amount in your credit card for this security until you check out safe snd clean.nBut this hostel is so genuine that it charged your card instantly without knowing what banks of credit card you are using.nI have been traveling around the world and no such things happened to me. Shame of Billabong Backpackers hostel !!!.nnThe worst is the refund will take 1-5 business day and you will lose the exchange rate for sure during the charge and refund processing.nnShame on Billabong Backpackers hostel policy again even though Rebecca Legg General Manager replied to me that something she cannot control the banking system.nBut she forgot an ON HOLD will cease our frustration.nNever come back again.
