Bendigo Pottery is a must see if you are interested in the history of Victoria. To say its astonishing is an understatement. I was introduced to their wares many years ago, but to see where they were made is a different thing altogether. But the great aspect is, its a living museum, as Bendigo Pottery still is in operation - but not using the old kilns. A bonus is the antique shop, where there are over 40 market stalls with gorgeous antiques. On top of that is a cafe as well, with fair prices. Access is easy, and wheelchair friendly. Parking limited.
Lots of history and local charm. Went on a cold & wet weekend, but it didn't spoil the experience. Easy self guided tour where you can see the original kilns and way the pottery worked, in days gone by and a lovely large undercover shop featuring an assortment of ceramic pieces made on premises. Great for self or as gifts. There is a cafe on site, ample parking, opportunities to do workshops if you have time and some other local artisan shops on site. Not far from central Bendigo. Do yourself a favour & make time to visit. Enjoy.
Lovely!! A great afternoon strolling around this historical place .so much to see . Cafes, shops , kids workshops, wine tasting, walking around soaking up the history admiring all the beautiful art from the local area and artists . The pottery so beautiful old style and a lovely new range so many beautiful coulours. Thanks for a lovely afternoon
Loved it. Beautiful pottery Was lovely to walk around and see the wonderful pottery pieces. Also see how they are made. Also has a huge area of vintage clothing jewellery and antique furniture . Definately a must if you visit Bendigo. Also has a cafe
First time I have ever visited, my Dad was a Potter there in the '80s, was really awesome to see how big and solid this place was. Plus the fact that it is still operational and sells really high quality ceramics.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

Lots of information about the past.. New generations must go & visit at least one time.. Especially people stays in Victoria.. It is shows you the history, lots of antiques collection.. Only thing i disappointed with the set up & arrangements... Must clean & tidy little bit more...should take initaive promote more for tourists.. I would like to thanks the staff.. They are welcome each of us & they are very friendly.
What a amazing place, where history meets today. The disused pottery kilns mixed with the collection of pottery is well thought out. The collectables section is also interesting.
I visited Bendigo for a short break from work, thinking I would just see the Elvis exhibition and visited some parks. Unexpectedly on the last day of my stay, I had a little time on hand and found out I could reach the Bendigo Pottery by bus. I am so glad that I did. It became a highlight of my stay in Bendigo this time. I was received by a friendly staff at the reception. Walking into the museum was like stepping back in time, you can still smell the ash, and I felt I could hear the noise of all these men and boys working and talking... I enjoyed stepping back in time and appreciating the stories shared through the audio visual aids, photos and preserved artefacts. At the back of the museum, the pottery continues to produce fine clay products. One young staff told me he usually works at the front education studio but they were short of staff, so he was working on-site. Another older staff answered my questions on the products they were making: I didn't know the white clays are still being mined locally! The Pottery has an extensive shop area, where you can get any current products or seconds. I happily picked up a beautifully made pudding bowl and a mug. Walking out from the shop area into the educational studio, I had a good chat with the master potter Rod while he sophisticatedly made a beautiful bowl. The cafe is small, simple but cosy. I had a delicious savoury scone with a nice caffe latte before catching a bus back in town for my train home. Strongly recommend this gem.
Pottery is a must visit in Bendigo!! Located about 7 kms north of downtown area, or 10 mins in a car. Historical pottery is in operation during the week, with sales area open every day. You must purchase a few items as a keep sake. Strongly recommend
